hmm... wow, I’m just now realizing my ALT levels have shot up from 24 to 41 in just five months...

Elizabeth Ross48, thanks. Yeah, this bug in my ear just won't quit... it's getting louder by the second. I keep telling myself, "Okay, you idiot, maybe you picked this up through sex or something," but I really need to go. Honestly, I wasn't even worried about those slightly elevated numbers at first, but then the internet does its thing and suddenly I'm spiraling. I work out a ton—maybe that's part of it—and I eat pretty well. The only thing is I drink way too much coffee :-). Since I'm already oversharing and dissecting my own life, my stomach has been acting up constantly. No matter what I eat, even when I eat slowly or sometimes barely anything at all, there's this pressure and heaviness in my gut. It makes me feel like I need to burp, so I try to force it or tense my stomach to get it out, but then it just gets stuck halfway. It’s not even loud, don't worry, I'm not being rude, but it makes this weird little sound inside. I know I probably sound ridiculous typing all this out to you guys, but I've just been obsessing over my health and these possible illnesses for days now.
Sam Hall15 said:--Megan Adams4, hepatitis is a possibility, or it could be some other kind of liver lesion. Looking at those initial labs, alcohol might be the culprit first. The results don't say you're a chronic alcoholic, but maybe you had a little more than usual over a day or two. You shouldn't panic; there are plenty of types of hepatitis. It might be Hep C, or it might not be any hepatitis at all. Generally, there's no need to spiral. Just get tested so you can have peace of mind. If you rule it out, great—if it turns out to be one of the types, then at least you know how to handle it and how to treat it.

Thanks, but honestly, I am just too terrified to go get tested for Hep right now. I don't know why—actually, I do know. Everything my brain has soaked up from the internet makes it sound incurable, terrifying, and just plain awful. Then I started spiraling about my boyfriends, wondering if they passed anything to me, and... you know? And since my levels are only just a tiny bit above normal, I wasn't even worried at first. I mean, seeing people online posting about AST and ALT levels that are through the roof makes mine look fine. But this paranoia is eating me alive. Two days spent scrolling online and I haven't slept a wink... I have to check, because I feel like I'm going to die from the sheer anxiety of it all.
thanks
Hi everyone, I recently had my liver enzymes checked. Back in month five, the results looked like this:
alkaline phosphatase 47 ref. range 54-119
AST 41 ref. range 8-30
ALT 24 ref. range 10-36
GGT 11 ref. range 9-35
Then, my gynecologist had me stop taking my birth control pills, Triquilar, and I just went back for more blood work. Here’s what came back:
alkaline phosphatase 65 ref. range 54-119
AST 32 ref. range 8-30
ALT 41 ref. range 10-36
GGT 14 ref. range 9-35
My doctor gave me this look—you know, that "hmm, this isn't great" look—and told me I should go get tested for hepatitis. Honestly, I almost collapsed right then and there. She even brought up mononucleosis, but I don't have any symptoms... My biggest issue is that since yesterday, I've been spiraling, reading everything I can find online about hepatitis, and now I'm terrified to actually go through with the testing. I'm shaking. I read somewhere that if it were acute, these numbers would be way higher, but that chronic hepatitis can show normal or only slightly elevated liver enzyme levels... I'm only 24 years old.
If anyone has any insight, please share it. Thank you.
