Dealing with bronchitis? in Health ·
Carol Price79 said:Did you get a spirometry test done?

Just did it yesterday.. stepped out of work because I thought I was gonna suffocate... couldn't catch my breath for anything... just broke out in a cold sweat...

Lungs are fine, thank God, but apparently there's some mucus clogging up my airways. Gotta take some mucolytic, then things should clear up...

Scared the hell out of me.. honestly, it's terrifying when you can't breathe... feels like someone's sitting right on your chest and your back at the same time...

It'll be fine...🙏

So, here’s the deal: this whole mess started about a month ago with a basic cold. Then the dry cough kicked in, so I hit up my doctor who prescribed antibiotics... total waste of time. Nothing worked, and the coughing just kept getting worse 😢

I kept dragging myself to work through it too... maybe that’s why it dragged on so long. Then one day, I get home from work and suddenly I’ve got a fever and I can barely breathe.😕😕

Ended up in the ER for testing... they did a chest X-ray, but thank God it wasn't pneumonia..🙏 Instead, the doc at the hospital told me I’d caught a nasty case of bronchitis... gave me some meds and a Ventolin inhaler to help with the breathing..

I stayed home on sick leave for two weeks to recover. The intense coughing finally died down... but now I’m still dealing with this shortness of breath and fatigue every now and then. Sometimes I even have to reach for the Ventolin again.???

I don't know... honestly, what am I supposed to do when I feel like I can't catch my breath?? Plus, the cough still hits me randomly at night.

Should I be using the inhaler? Or is this breathing stuff just leftover damage from the bronchitis being so bad? My lungs are clear and no fever. I'm just lost on how to actually get better.

If anyone’s been through this, please let me know...
