Dealing with bronchitis?

I quit smoking six weeks ago, but I am still encountering issues when I attempt to go for a run. It is particularly noticeable in colder weather; I get this sensation of burning deep within my chest, and I find myself coughing every few minutes. Even after the exertion ends, the coughing persists. Could this be bronchitis, or something else entirely? What might serve as effective relief to help this pass?
