Look, you just don't get this movie, that's the whole point...
It's actual art, not one of those modern mindless action flicks where everything is just constant explosions and gunfire...
Plus, ninjas wouldn't even fit the vibe. They were basically thieves, assassins, and thugs, whereas samurai are portrayed as honorable guys—so maybe ninjas could've worked as villains, I guess...
Besides, with the script you're talking about, the movie wouldn't last 3.5 hours; the ninjas would've just wiped everyone out in twenty minutes.😉
