Since I'm pretty much a newcomer when it comes to navigating the healthcare system here in Chicago, I was wondering if anyone could walk me through how the whole scheduling process actually works? I know the referral gets uploaded somewhere into the digital system, but what’s the deal with the waiting lists—how do they actually move along?
I ended up calling in to schedule a specialist appointment, and then my doctor's nurse issued the formal referral over the phone right after. Is there any way for me to actually check where I stand on the list or see how long the wait might be?
