I’m looking to get some testing done to rule out HIV and hepatitis. I have my standard health insurance plus supplemental coverage... Should I be paying anything out of pocket for these tests, or can I just show up with a referral from my doctor? Also, if I'm in a major city like Chicago, can I just head over to a clinic like Northwestern or a local hospital with my referral to get this sorted out?
I'm planning on heading abroad for college soon, and they've asked me to submit a "general medical report." From what I gather, this is basically an occupational health clearance for people moving overseas. Do I need to get a referral from my primary care doctor first? Also, since I'm over 18 and moving out of the country, will I have to pay out of pocket for this? I do have supplemental insurance, so I'm wondering about the logistics, where I should go, and what the damage might be to my wallet...

Thanks
