Dealing with hemorrhoids

Help me out, people
I woke up this morning to find my partner dealing with a massive case of hemorrhoids. I have absolutely no idea what he was doing last night to trigger this, but let me tell you, what I saw was nothing short of a nightmare! The bleeding is intense, the appearance is even worse, and he says the pain is just unbearable. He can’t even sit down or walk properly.
We picked up some over-the-counter ointment, but I really want to know how I can help ease that agonizing pain he’s going to feel when he actually has to go to the bathroom.
What should he be eating? What kind of meals should I whip up or pick up? I’m completely lost here...
Please help if God knows how!
The last time we had a crisis like this, I actually had to call a contractor because he ended up knocking a square foot of tiles loose while sitting on the toilet.
It breaks my heart to see my sweet man suffering like this, especially when I feel so clueless about what to do...
