Some good news—it’s turned red.😁
Honestly, if someone had told me just a week ago that I’d be this thrilled about a red hemorrhoid on my esteemed backside...😉
Regardless, I am definitely making an appointment with my doctor tomorrow. I have no intention of letting this happen again if there is any way at all to prevent it. Plus, based on everything I've read on the forums here...😲
I mean, up until now, I’ve usually only dealt with a single external one...
And yes, of course I practice good hygiene🙂—to be perfectly honest, I don't think I do much else. Yesterday, I headed to the bathroom just to grab some dental floss and ended up stripping down entirely...😵
...which is clearly just paranoia at work.
By the way, thanks to Larry Richardson6 for the advice (and I sincerely hope your hemorrhoid-free streak continues).

Alright, I’m new to this forum and it’s pretty clear I’ve run into a bit of an issue 🙂
I have a question... has anyone here ever dealt with an external hemorrhoid that seemingly turned purulent?
To be honest, I’ve already scoured the internet for everything there is to know about perianal abscesses... but aside from the fact that this looks infected, I don't have any other symptoms. There’s no pain (though it is certainly uncomfortable), no itching, and no bleeding....
On the first day, it presented like any standard hemorrhoid: large, red, and slightly bluish at the tip. I applied some FactSet ointment, which helped reduce the swelling, but by the second day of application, the top had turned this yellowish-white color. It is still shrinking, but the discoloration persists... (right now I'm using Proctolog because the pharmacist suggested it as a "stronger" alternative)
I have read everything I can find online, and frankly, I am completely lost... I'm quite confused about what to do next 😕
And to make matters worse, it’s Saturday, so nothing is open until Monday except for the ER.
Any advice or ideas?
