Honestly, stay far away from that. A colonoscopy is basically an exam of your large intestine, and let me tell you, the pain can be absolutely brutal. They don't give you any anesthesia, so you'll probably end up screaming. Plus, the day before, you have to clear out your entire system, which means spending all day glued to the bathroom, eating nothing, and drinking this nasty, bitter saline solution. Since you're already dealing with itching, I honestly don't know how you'd handle it...
It would definitely be a good idea to see a gastroenterologist. You’ll need to get a referral from your primary care doctor first, and then you'll have to do the whole dance of calling different hospitals to see where you can get an appointment sooner. The massive headache with the healthcare system is that back in April, everywhere was booked out nine months in advance, so you're likely looking at a wait until October now.
I actually ended up going to the ER because my pain was just unbearable, and they ordered both a gastroscopy and a colonoscopy. Because of that, I managed to get everything sorted out within a month...
I'm heading to the gastroenterologist on June 18th with all my test results, so we'll see what the specialist has to say about everything...
Anyway, definitely sit down and talk to your GP about this. See what their take is on the situation...

It’s just all feeling like a bit much at once, you know? I'm honestly overwhelmed and not even sure where to start. Right now, I'm trying to kick this H. pylori infection, so once that's sorted, I'll dive into the juices. Nothing else seems to touch it—not even Zantac, Nexium, or Pepcid...

Does anyone have any actual solutions for reflux, besides the whole "sleep propped up" routine?

I’m not even sure if anyone still hangs out on this forum, but here I am. After a colonoscopy that honestly felt totally unnecessary, they found a ring of inflamed and thrombosed internal hemorrhoids. And since that’s not my only issue, I’m also dealing with chronic gastritis, H. pylori, and GERD—basically acid reflux. Right now, I’m stuck on a heavy round of antibiotics morning and night, which means I can't even start the treatment my doctor prescribed yet. That plan is Detralex: two pills four times a day for three days, then two pills three times a day for two days, followed by one pill twice a day for two months. Since a single pack of Detralex $39 only has 30 tablets, it’s getting pretty pricey because I’ll need three full boxes. I won't touch Pilex either, even though I heard you can get stuff like that for pennies in India...
Then there's the other headache: because of all this stomach trouble, I have to eat mostly dry foods. But dry food just absorbs all the acid, which means I’m losing almost all my protective lining, and like some of you have mentioned before, eating dry really makes everything worse. I'm only 23, and honestly, every doctor who looks at my charts seems pretty shocked by how much damage I've managed to do to myself at this age..
To make a long story short, because of all these gastric issues, the hemorrhoids I've been fighting for about six years are getting way worse...
I’m seriously at a loss. The pain is just massive—it's coming from the stomach and the hemorrhoids simultaneously—and I don't know what to do just to manage the pain until I can finally start the Detralex.

If anyone has any advice, I’m all ears...
