I have another question. If anyone knows the answer, please let me know.
The thing is, I don't live in Washington, D.C., but I need to head there for surgery. I'm currently near 124 miles, so traveling back and forth constantly just doesn't make sense...
Once the surgery is over, how long am I expected to stay in the hospital room? Is it possible to extend the stay beyond what was originally planned, or can I just pay extra to stay in the ward longer? It really isn't worth the trip, and I don't have the budget for hotels in D.C.—I assume they're pretty pricey...
Can anyone give me some insight on this? Thanks.

This means it isn't done for everyone—only for patients whose nasal tips drop while they speak. Try talking in front of a mirror; if your nose dips, you likely fall into that group where those muscle fibers need adjusting. Again, I'm repeating myself: this doesn't mean it will happen to you. You won't know until the first consultation when they examine you in person. All in all... even if you do need surgery... it isn't scary or painful, and there's no visible scarring afterward.
And those two nose photos... honestly, it looks like the exact same nose to me. 😁 Maybe my perception is off, but it looks like one nose photographed from two different angles and distances. The first shot is closer and more centered, while the second is taken from further away and more from the side... I'm probably just rambling now, so I'll stop.🙂 😁
It is indeed the same nose; the first photo is before, and the second is after surgery, even if it’s hard to tell. Mine looks like the first photo, and I want it to look like the second, though perhaps a bit narrower.
My nose doesn't drop at all when I talk, and the tip is flat—it lacks that extended lower part. "I wasn't angry, I just didn't read it because I was shocked the moment I saw the picture."
Does anyone here have a nose even remotely similar to mine? I'm curious how things turned out for them.🙂.
(thanks for the reply 🙂
I’m not a fan of Fanny's nose either. It looks way too small, almost artificial. A slightly larger one might actually suit her better, since her eyes look like donuts.
Now, I need someone who actually knows what they're talking about to answer me. I was browsing Dr. Smith's website again and stumbled upon this photo: If that was the result they offered me, I'd walk out immediately.
Here’s the situation: Like I mentioned, I have a pretty wide nose. In profile, there's a bump, then a dip, and then a rounded tip. Honestly, the whole thing just looks like a potato. If my eyes were bigger, I wouldn't even bother with surgery, but they're small—I end up looking like characters from Avatar.
Basically, I'd need someone to break the side bones and deal with that bump to reshape everything. My question is: to get results like the picture, does it HAVE TO be done with an incision under the lip? Or is there another way? I’m terrified of that. They can mess with my nose all they want, but there is zero chance they'll be cutting into my mouth area.
Has anyone here had a similar nose shape, and how did you handle it?
Here is a photo that looks exactly like my nose:

Checking in. Three weeks post-op... and I’m more than satisfied.🙏
Those who have been following along know this is my second surgery... This time they went with an osteotomy—essentially breaking the lateral bones entirely to reconstruct the cartilage...
I wanted to share some advice. After my first procedure—it was just a dilation back then—I looked absolutely horrific. Honestly, I was a mess... bruised everywhere, swollen beyond recognition. I hadn't prepared myself at all. That’s why this time, I actually did my homework and stayed on top of things. It made a huge difference. Just some light purple circles under my eyes, and everything cleared up quickly...🙂)
What did I even do...?
I was taking zinc tablets and Vitamin C powder daily. Seven days prior to surgery, I took homeopathic Arnica pellets, and continued for another seven days following the procedure...
I applied the LIOTON gel to my bruises... then 24 hours after the surgery, I tried keeping the gel-led on my neck, a bit on the back of my head, a little around the eyes... five minutes at a time... then repeating every hour...
After surgery, everyone just wants to get back to their old selves immediately. But honestly, with this kind of procedure, you'll be completely fine within seven days... I haven't even touched foundation or concealer lately, and my nose looks great...👍
Hello...
Hello. I see you’ve already undergone two surgeries and had to break those lateral bones. I haven't gone under the knife yet... still planning. Deciding on the where, the how, and which surgeon... but breaking the bone seems inevitable given my wide nose. I'm wondering if breaking those side bones requires two separate procedures, or if it can all be handled in one go. Honestly, I don't quite grasp why you had to go back a second time...
One more thing. Most people here claim they're happy with Dr. Smith's work, but I just spent some time reviewing his portfolio and... I'm not feeling it. While his bone structure work seems solid enough, the nasal profiles are just unattractive. Too many bulbous noses, and the nasal bridges look like they're floating in mid-air. I don't know what results you all are getting from him, but personally, it’s nothing special...
George Ramos11 said:I don't think she didn't have an ugly nose before... actually, even the doctor said it was a "grateful nose"... but when she's paying to fix a tiny bump on her profile that nobody else notices, man, she's getting ripped off... this guy didn't do anything at all... and he's just some joke of a surgeon... 🙂)

(ugh, she's so clueless)
I see in the thumbnail she’s wearing patches over her eyes, why?😕
Hey everyone. I'm wondering if anyone here has gone through rhinoplasty for a "bulbous" nose shape. From the front, the profile looks okay, but the scale is all wrong because my eyes are small. Then there's the side view—a hump, then a dip, followed by the tip... just a mess. Does anyone know the ballpark cost for a procedure involving osteotomy to narrow the bridge and reshape the tip?
My nostrils aren't huge; they're actually on the smaller side. When looking at me head-on, they barely show up, and I’d really like to keep it that way. I don't want to end up looking like a pig.
One more thing, and this is a bit awkward, but I have to ask. Do I need to clear out any nasal hair before the surgery, or is that handled during the procedure? I own a trimmer, but I'm hesitant to use it myself since I tend to nick the skin and end up with little cuts... :/
Where can I pick up that Heat Moisture Exchange Filter? Looking for an answer... also have my grandmother at home who won't stop coughing, and the mucus is constant. Is there any product out there that actually helps reduce it?
Hello everyone,
Here is the situation. My grandmother turned 83 today. She is battling oral cancer.
She’s undergone several surgeries over the last four years. It's benign, but it keeps coming back. At first, it just looked like some swelling in her cheek. We didn't realize what it was then—we thought it was nothing serious, and she refused to see a doctor anyway.
Once the diagnosis was confirmed, she had surgery and needed follow-ups. We missed one appointment because we misread the paperwork and thought we only had one scheduled.
Anyway, it reappeared about 18 months ago, leading to two more surgeries. Now, she's due for another one this September.
She has lost significant weight over the last four years. She used to be around 160 lbs, but now she’s hovering between 105 and 110 lbs. She drinks Ensure to try and gain weight, but frankly, it isn't doing much.
We are giving her plenty of supplements: Vitamin C, Selenium, Omega-3 fish oil capsules, turmeric, which is supposedly good for slowing cancer growth, Shiitake mushroom tablets for their purported benefits, plus green tea in both pill and liquid form.
We schedule these throughout the day, mixing them into fruit yogurt since she can't swallow pills any other way.
She still has a tracheostomy tube in her neck that I have to clean myself... nobody else in the family is capable of doing it, and they're too afraid.
MY QUESTIONS. PLEASE ANSWER IF YOU KNOW:
1. Is there any liquid, tablet, or syrup that helps reduce mucus in the throat? She can't cough it up, so it all ends up coming through the tube.
2. Are there any other ingredients I haven't mentioned that might help slow cancer growth?
3. Has anyone heard of AAR ALOR syrup? I read in a magazine called my destiny that it helped many people with cancer. Does anyone have experience with it?
4. Do you know of any foods that are good for weight gain in a puree or mash form, provided they aren't loaded with sugar? She can't handle solid food.
I wasn't sure if there was already a thread for this, couldn't find one... please, I need any help, answers, or advice you can give. Regards.

So, who did you go to for surgery to have it look like that?...😕
slymoose95, how much did you actually end up paying for that surgery of yours? I'm genuinely curious. 🙂
Yeah, can someone explain the difference between local and general anesthesia? Which one is better... Has anyone here actually had to deal with a broken bone? I'm honestly terrified, I can't even put it into words. I'll probably need to take something for my nerves. Just really scared they might mess me up too much. 😢
Hi everyone. 🙂 So, I’m looking into getting rhinoplasty. I just turned 20 the other day. I really want this, but honestly, I'm terrified because I've read about potential infections. :O My fear is that an infection might leave my nose looking horrific—weird shape, weird color... I don't even know. If God wills it, I’m planning to go for it next year, once I've saved enough money.
My nose has been an issue since elementary school. It’s similar to Jelena Veljaca's—quite rounded and wide at the front—but she has those huge eyes that distract from it. My eyes are much smaller, so my nose just stands out. The bridge is quite wide, and I have this small bump on my profile that drives me crazy.
I’m doing this for myself, not for anyone else. Beyond that, I hate being in group photos because I always look awkward. I end up Photoshop-ing pictures just to fix it. I wish I didn't have to do that, but I just can't stand how my nose looks.
When I started high school, I thought people would be cool about it, but I was wrong. A guy in my class told me I had a potato nose. Then some girl—also in my class—said I looked just like my brother and pointed right at my nose in front of everyone. I have a decent figure, and having fuller lips helps distract from it slightly, but it's still there. I even heard one guy suggest I should wear a paper bag over my head... he thought I didn't hear him. Jerk.
When I wear makeup, I look pretty good, especially at night 🙂, haha. But I want to feel confident without the makeup, which I currently don't, all because of my nose.
When looking straight on, my nose isn't droopy and the nostrils aren't overly visible, which I actually like. I want to maintain that after the surgery. My biggest fear is ending up with a "pig nose," but hopefully not, since my nasal base is already quite low and small.
I’ll definitely need a bone break to narrow everything down. Can someone please share their experience if you had a similar situation? I am genuinely scared a surgeon might mess something up and leave me disfigured. Right now, I don't like what I see in the mirror. 😢
Is the procedure more painful when they have to break the bone? Is the risk higher? Please let me know. Best to all. 🙂
