I am reaching out because I was hoping someone might be able to offer some guidance. My mother received her serum immunofixation results yesterday, which showed a monoclonal IgG lambda type. Her serum IgG is at 17.9 g/L, and the electrophoresis shows an M-protein concentration of 8.39 g/L. Additionally, her urine analysis revealed elevated erythrocytes, leukocytes, and squamous epithelial cells.
An immunologist sent her for these tests due to skin allergies on her hands—specifically ragades—as well as recurring kidney stones. He suspected there might be an underlying immunological connection, especially since she has been dealing with Crohn's disease since her early twenties...
I would be so grateful if anyone happens to know more about what these specific findings might mean. Every time I search online, the only thing that comes up is multiple myeloma, and it is quite overwhelming. If anyone could provide even a little bit of insight while we wait for more concrete information from her doctors, it would mean the world to us... we are all feeling a bit lost right now.
