Honestly, thank you so much; you’ve really helped settle my nerves. It feels like doctors here in the States rarely give you a straight answer about what actually needs to happen. Luckily, it looks like they only need to remove my right lobe, so there’s a decent chance I might be able to manage just fine on hormone replacement therapy alone. Thanks again, truly.
Since I work as a pharmacist, I find the whole world of alternative medicine pretty fascinating, though I suppose I should ask: what specific types of alternative treatments are we even talking about here?
I realize this subject probably falls into one of those categories we’ve already exhausted, but I just can’t seem to navigate my way through hundreds of pages of previous discussions🙂 So, here is my situation: I have a toxic thyroid adenoma, and after seven years of weighing my options, I’ve finally decided to go through with surgery. I don't really experience any major symptoms from the condition itself, though I have been on medication for the last seven years. Now that the surgery date is actually getting closer, I suppose I’m starting to get a bit neurotic about it. I know deep down it isn't some massive, terrifying procedure, but since I am generally healthy and haven't had much experience dealing with hospitals, I find myself spiraling a little. Is general anesthesia actually dangerous? What is the scarring typically like? And is there any truth to the rumors about weight gain afterward? Also... has anyone actually died from this? :P
