cosmictiger9 said:hey... got a question for you guys... I’ve been rocking glasses for like 10 years straight, and honestly? I was just totally over them. So yesterday, I finally went to the eye doctor to get my prescription updated... I was in the exam room for maybe 10 minutes tops... but fast forward to this morning, and now after getting home from school, I seriously cannot get these things on... I mean, I feel like I'm doing everything the doctor told me to do, but my eyes just reflexively slam shut... can anyone tell me if it was like this for you when you first got new lenses? Everyone keeps telling me to just stick with it and that I'll get used to them, but I'm a massive pessimist by nature, so right now... I just feel like I'm failing at this... please let me know if you have any advice or if you've dealt with this before... thanks... cosmictiger9

So, I actually got my contacts about a week ago, and I've been searching the internet for tips and whatnot... and then I stumbled upon this thread 😁 and I wanted to tell you right away—that is exactly what happened to me. Every single time I tried to put a lens in, I'd start blinking uncontrollably and my eye would just slam shut, making it impossible to get them in... and I tried a thousand times... but then, finally, I managed to do it. For me, the biggest struggle at first was just figuring out which side was the right way up... but I figured that out with a little help from the internet 😁 so you really just have to practice.. and the most important thing is to hold your eyelids open as wide as you possibly can... I'm still practicing with it myself because I can get the right eye in on the first try.. though my eye tears up a bit, and that's about it.. but with the left one, it takes me 5 or 6 tries before I actually succeed.. and even then, I usually put it in crooked and have to keep adjusting it as much as I can, or if it won't work, I have to take it all out and start over from scratch.😢 So, just stay persistent, keep practicing, and everything will eventually fall into place 😉
