So, because you're rambling about a 13-second gap, it's somehow my fault for "imagining I'm doubling numbers from above"?

That "imagining I'm doubling numbers from above" bit is literally, word for word, just quoting Andrew Shovlin.

Well, let's see who this Andrew Shovlin guy actually is...

Yeah, right, whatever you say. 🙂

Lol 🤣 Yeah, totally imaginary, since he was only talking about the FIRST TWO LAPS of the race (because that part fell off by lap three) where Max pulled a 5-second lead, yet you somehow concluded that Mercedes—oops, sorry, I mean Lewis, since you corrected our friend up there—was faster than Max by 0.6s per lap. Five seconds is still way more than 0.6 or even 1.2s, man.

Anyway, let's check out what Andrew Shovlin actually said...

When asked how much performance they lost due to the damage at the Tamburello chicane, Shovlin said: “Initially it was quite large.

“The reason for that was because the footplate of the front wing hadn’t come away completely. It was actually held on by the pressure tappings we use to measure the aero performance of those parts. And while this was flapping around, it was causing a big loss, so around six tenths of a second that was affecting him in the opening laps.

“Eventually that bit of the front wing fell off completely and that was actually quite good for Lewis, it halved the loss.

“So what we were seeing later on was something like two to three tenths
, but that affected him through the whole of that intermediate [tyre] stint and in the early part of the stint on medium tyres.

Jason Campbell70 said:Man, you wouldn't believe it—Max actually managed to pull ahead by a massive 6 seconds right out of the gate in that first stint! It was absolutely wild to watch.
Actually, let me be precise here—it was exactly 6.065 seconds, right during lap 22 of the race.

Oh man, my bad, you're totally right! I got way too carried away playing around with those imaginary numbers you were talking about earlier. Seriously, I was just vibing with it. 👍

Jason Campbell70 said:So, which race were you actually watching? I feel like I missed half the action because I was busy arguing with the guy at the deli about whether or not they should put extra pickles on my sub—seriously, who even does that? Anyway, what did you catch? 🙂

Remember that race where Lewis absolutely fell asleep at the starting lights? Then you’ve got him smashing his front wing halfway through the second turn, only to act like that broken wing was the reason he couldn't keep up. Like, excuse me? He tries to blame the aero when his actual pace is already somehow 0.6 seconds faster than Max's. I mean, do the math—if you can even call it that! Just total nonsense.

Then Lewis just totally lost it, spinning right out—honestly, he was just cruising along when everything went sideways. Total beach vibes. So, he goes and clips the barrier a bit, right? Just a little nudge, but then he spends all that time totally rebuilding the car. By the time they hit the restart, he dives into that first turn sitting a massive 7.4 seconds behind Max Verstappen. Honestly, he just couldn't find it. He kept talking up this whole imaginary "magic" pace where he’d be 0.6 seconds faster per lap, but it was all talk. He ended up finishing right behind Max with a gap of exactly 22.000 seconds. Total bust.

Jason Campbell70 said:You're actually pretty much on the money with that one.

I know! 🙂 Honestly, Lewis Hamilton is just on another planet compared to the rest of these guys. I’m telling you, he’s probably the only driver out there who could actually push a car fast enough to break the sound barrier—and I mean totally raw, without even touching the DRS! Meanwhile, all these other amateurs can barely crack 228 mph even when they have the DRS wide open (just look back at Monza 2020). Total GOAT status. Period.

Roger Wright94 said:If that’s actually how it went down, then Lewis was basically cruising for like 25 laps while trailing by about 0.6 per lap.

Man, you totally dug your own grave here.

Roger Wright94 said:Plus, Lewis staying within a second of Max for those 20ish laps was barely even a gap, really.

PU issues and just straight-up tire management.

Roger Wright94 said:In those final few laps of that stretch—maybe around laps 25 to 30—Lewis actually started making some real moves on Max and closing that gap.

Nope, that never happened. Seriously. The only time Lewis actually "closed in" on Max was when he cut from -13 down to -11 because Max got stuck in traffic (remember, someone got lapped for the first time on lap 19?), but then Lewis lost it all a lap later and we were right back at -13. Then Max hits the pits, and Lewis—who’s a lap behind in the pits too—ends up smashing into the wall.

Jason Campbell70 said:Just fixing my typo there. 🙂

Honestly, Lewis could've pulled off a lap a full minute faster than Max if he actually had the chance. I mean, Lewis is just flawless and totally dominates everyone.

So, after Hamilton went off track, smashed right into the barrier, and finally managed to get back on, he was sitting about a lap and a half behind P4. Honestly, if we hadn't gotten that red flag, even at his absolute best, he probably would've just scraped a P6 finish. But man, what he did next was straight-up sorcery—he pulled off this incredible, magical drive to erase a two-lap deficit like he was some kind of modern-day wizard. Let’s just pretend that red flag never happened, okay?

I’m honestly losing my mind trying to figure out what kind of demon is haunting the Mercedes garage lately. It’s been four races straight and they just cannot catch a break—it's nothing but pure chaos and mechanical nightmares. Every single time! Now they’re even letting Bottas fall twenty seconds behind like it’s nothing. Just a complete and total train wreck. 🤦

Jacob Castillo70 said:There's no way Vettel finishes the season like this. I bet Marvel jumps in halfway through the year.

Yeah, right. Like Vettel is the one to blame for this penalty and all the other mess today. Total joke.

Vettel is cursed, man. Seriously.

Sainz is out there having a blast with the rally stuff, but let’s be real—his old man is still the one and only true legend of the family.

shadowmarlin22 said:Man, Mick had a rough one. Seriously, what is even going on with this Haas lineup? 🙏

It’s like their sponsors are basically forcing them to spin out just so they can get some decent TV time, you know? It’s the only way those brands actually show up on screen. 😬

Jason Campbell70 said:Hamilton's car looks absolutely trashed.

Yeah, it's totally totaled.

Jason Campbell70 said:Oh, you bet they do. I mean, seriously, since day one, F1 has been all about that race.

Of course they've had them since day one, but let's be real—they didn't have them every single season. It hasn't always been like this!

Jason Campbell70 said:
So, about that gearbox... it’s built right into the engine block, by the way. It’s a 5-speed setup plus reverse. Simple enough, right?

Man, looking back at these old blueprints just hits different. I was scrolling through some archives earlier and stumbled upon the specs for the Ferrari 125, and honestly? It’s wild how much things have changed since those early days. You look at these vintage setups and you realize we’ve come such a long way from the "just throw an engine in a frame and hope for the best" era. It’s kind of like looking at a classic muscle car from the 60s versus a modern hypercar—totally different DNA, but you can still see that raw, unrefined soul underneath. Back then, they weren't worrying about complex hybrid power units or crazy aero simulations; it was all about brute force and basic mechanics. I remember my grandfather used to talk about watching these kinds of beasts roar on the track back in the day. He had this old grease-stained manual for a vintage racer that he treated like a holy relic. Seeing these technical details brings back that whole vibe—that feeling of pure, analog racing where everything felt a little more dangerous and a lot more visceral. Anyway, just a bit of a deep dive for me today. Makes you wonder what people will be saying about our current tech fifty years from now!

Honestly, who cares? It’s totally irrelevant when you look at today's absolute monsters out there pushing 8+ seconds. Just doesn't even matter anymore.

Richard Walker38 said:Now Sky and all those British media outlets are obviously gonna milk this whole Bottas thing and turn Russel into some kind of martyr.

I find it super interesting how Russel just won't let go of the idea that Bottas is the one at fault—like he’s acting like he’s just some innocent bystander caught in the crossfire of unnecessary aggression.

wiredseal7 said:I honestly can't tell if Max even attempted a flyer at the end there or if he just straight up refused to risk anything.

Look, Lewis had the FL set with DRS (on Lando), so realistically Max didn't have a prayer of being that much faster without someone out in front to hunt down. There was zero reason to play hero and risk blowing the whole thing just to scrape an extra point.

Jason Campbell70 said:Man, these cars have had reverse gears since day one.

Nope, they don't.

Jason Campbell70 said:And you aren't allowed to drive in reverse in the pit lane anyway.

Exactly.

ruggedscout76 said:Perez could definitely scrape together more points.

And he could! I honestly believe he can, but looking at how things are playing out, Max is probably gonna end up walking away with almost all of Red Bull's points by the end of the season.

I mean, look, it’s totally unrealistic to expect anyone to actually challenge him for wins—let's be real, besides Lewis Hamilton, he's easily the best driver on the grid right now. But man, if the other Red Bull driver keeps making these silly mistakes that cost him podiums and ultimately hurt their standing in the constructors' championship... 👎

Those blunders are gonna sting extra hard this year because, let's face it, every single million dollars is going to matter more than ever before.

William Gomez5 said:Wait, is it even legal to go in reverse on the track? I don't mean like when they're digging themselves out of the gravel trap, but like, actually driving backward on the circuit itself?

It's totally allowed. Back in the day, it wasn't an option because those old-school cars didn't even have a reverse gear.
2021 Emilia Romagna GP (Imola) | April 16-18 in Formula 1 ·
So, looks like it’s gonna be just Max against the world again for the third year running in the constructors' championship.

You screw up, you wreck the car, you end up a circle and a half behind P4, they throw the red flag, and boom—now you’re sitting there about 10 seconds back from P1. Just pure tragedy, lol.
2021 Emilia Romagna GP (Imola) | April 16-18 in Formula 1 ·
Lewis is totally washed, man. That move under pressure? Absolute disaster. Zero composure. We’re gonna see way more of this stuff this season—just like when he got completely outplayed and left in the dust by Rosberg back in the day. Look, it's easy to act cool when you aren't actually being chased by anyone...
I mean, just look at that total meltdown from yesterday; it says it all: https://streamable.com/p4a9as

Richard Walker38 said:Lando is improving so fast, it's actually insane. Meanwhile, Leclerc is just stuck in neutral.

Give me a break. Leclerc hasn't even been aggressive enough to get into anyone's way for two races now, so calling that "progress" is a joke.

Lando Norris has turned into an absolute beast on the track lately, man, I am seriously loving seeing this side of him.
