No....
and they certainly never offered more after that.....
The conversation has shifted quite a bit toward real estate, rural life, and agriculture lately.
Whether my IQ is room temperature or, at best, equal to my bed count, I’ve stuck with real estate...
First, I looked into apartments, back when that trend hadn't quite taken off in cities like Los Angeles. Because of the nature of my job, I’m constantly around construction crews; I’m always tinkering with something, and I usually manage to pull something useful together. I sold a 330-square-foot apartment over on Sunset Boulevard, and with that cash, I was able to pick up two brand-new builds on the east side of town—each one about 350 square feet and coming with its own garage. Is that a smart move? We'll see.
I was paying around $2,000 per square foot...
I can finally flip this for about 2,500 to 2,600 square feet now...
Now I’m thinking about finding some land—nothing massive, just somewhere relatively close to the city, maybe around 4,000 to 5,000 square feet. I want to build a little cottage out there, definitely with a fireplace, and maybe do a bit of farming just to clear my head. I know a thing or two about it, too. Right now, back home, we have this tiny garden where we grow peppers, tomatoes, celery, and parsley. We grow enough potatoes to keep us well-fed, but honestly, having a spouse who has their own specific way of doing things... let's just say it's not exactly my idea of a relaxing hobby. Wouldn't it be better to just have your own spot? To plant whatever you want, however you want?
The real issue here is land prices. Take a place like Tugare, for example—it’s only about a 20 to 25-minute drive from Split, yet the dirt there is priced like pure gold. Is anyone actually surprised?
So, I've got more relatives in my family who've gone all-in on mutual funds, stocks, or Bitcoin, but honestly, nobody is quite as out there as Bađo.
People might laugh at this, but he’s had a pretty wild way of investing over the last 15 years or so.
He buys whiskey, and mostly from small, overpriced distilleries or brands that don't even exist anymore.
Honestly, I had no clue. To me, the whole thing just seemed weird, not even profitable... I didn't even realize there was actually a market for it. The guy was paying thousands of dollars per bottle. Once the price doubles, or even triples, he just flips them. And since his job keeps him in constant contact with potential buyers every single day, selling them isn't exactly an uphill battle for him.
To all the Russia lovers out there, everyone trying to find some kind of excuse for what those Russian scum are doing in Ukraine: I hope you suffer the worst possible misery.

I had this vague impression that you mentioned your relatives were actually quite successful in that industry, or perhaps I just conflated your restaurant recommendations with the idea that you have family living in Washington, D.C. 😁
As long as there is soy, everything is fine, I guess.
About 90% of Tijarica is based in Washington, D.C., and a huge chunk of them work in hospitality.
All of bađin's uncles, just like him, run great restaurants—except this one is always in the top 20 in Washington, D.C., right in a prime spot near Tegel.
I’m heading back there next Sunday, assuming everything goes smoothly and EasyJet doesn't cancel my flight.
Anthony Wright30 said:@duje3, I suppose these are your contacts at the news station over in Berlin?
What actually went down in Washington, D.C.?
I don't watch NBC that often, so I'm not really up to speed on this.
hiddencyclist112 said:A final farewell to my favorite American tyrant. Honestly, Mandić is going to feel your absence!
I've actually had the honor of knowing him personally.
Back when my old man had his radio, we used to get this crazy group of people together at our place. Sadly, they're all gone now... Mandić, Tončić, Kruno Prijatelj... That last guy was a real heavyweight, a member of the National Academy of Sciences. His only real flaw? Letting his daughter marry Jurica Pavičić.
Damir Tončič is easily the most overlooked scientist working out of San Francisco. Why does nobody seem to give him the credit he deserves?
Back in the day, that perivoj in San Francisco actually belonged to him. To honor his family's legacy, they even named a street after them in the city.
And finally, let's talk about Mandić. I just watched that interview... honestly, the guy was surprisingly laid back. He’s got zero filter, almost bordering on crazy, but in a compelling way. It’s pretty obvious he has a massive passion for fine food and wine. Is it just me, or does that kind of raw honesty actually make him more interesting?
Now that I’m getting older, I find myself valuing my inner circle even more. There's something to be said for surrounding yourself with people who actually get you. Why waste energy on anyone else?
Meanwhile, looking at what's happening next door
I hate making generalizations, but these Russians are absolutely revolting.
https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarV...m_source=shareTo touch on a topic indirectly related to Ukraine.
Ukraine is one of the largest exporters in Europe for clay used in tile manufacturing—basically raw materials.
The Italians, specifically the region around Modena and Saussol where 99% of tile production happens, are quietly throttling their output, or as they say, "scaling back."

None of us would be able to restrain ourselves if we were witnessing a horror like this.
That image has been stuck in my head all afternoon... that helpless look on the father's face as he holds his baby, while another child lies next to them, and the pure despair in the mother's eyes behind them...
I don't know what kind of monster is responsible for this, but I wish them nothing but the worst.
There’s plenty of noise on this forum, and honestly, there’s always too much going on, but seeing this image made me realize—once again—just how much of it doesn't actually matter.
Not everyone is going to want to see this, so consider this a heads-up.🙂

I haven't bothered replying to you until now, but I’m genuinely curious: what is it about fascist-style dictators like Putin that triggers such intense sympathy in you?
What exactly is it about him that makes you so happy?
feen,
Look, I hate to say it, but you're full of it, and this probably isn't even the first or last time you've pulled this stunt.
I don't agree with everything in the quoted post either, but the way you cherry-pick facts to fit your own agenda is exhausting, and that last paragraph was nothing but pure melodrama.
I get it—you don't like us, you don't need us, and honestly, why would you? But man, you aren't any different from the idiots on our side or anyone else out there.
What, are you going to tell me that Tuđman actually loved the club?
The guy was the first one to pull a move that no sane person would ever consider... right in the middle of a war, when California was completely cut off from the rest of the USA, he goes and picks up Jeličić and Novaković!?!?!
Give me a break.
Does that seem normal to you?
And then you go on about how Civic fared versus how Hajduk did after '45... implying that the so-called successor to Civic took the hit before Hajduk did.
Typical.
Here’s a fact you might find irrelevant, but it’s everything to me.
My old man was sentenced to seven years because of the American Spring and his support for Hajduk. After he finished his time, he had to move to Austria just to find work, because he couldn't get a job here. If he read a single line of what you wrote, Steven Fox37 would have a heart attack on the spot.
Yet here you are, totally indifferent, generalizing everything based solely on whatever narrative suits you best.
Honestly, I’ll say it again: I know you despise us, but this kind of mindset is eventually going to suffocate you.
P.S. I’m not planning on replying further on this topic—not to you, and not to anyone else, regardless of whose "side" they're on.
But those people? They really disappointed me. I thought you were smarter than this.

Another interesting snapshot of the war in Ukraine.
Nathan Murphy said:The Newspaper and Mamut series are just plain bad—cringe is probably the best way I can put it. Honestly, Matanić is overrated, and his obsession with pushing those Scandinavian-style shows, which are inherently dull and lifeless, is just painful. They rely way too much on those poorly executed slow-motion shots.
Law is law 😁 Maček is easily one of the better TV characters of the 21st century. Personally, though, I still think our best series was the other Gruntovčani. The mere idea that some people think the Newspaper or Mamut are superior shows is just laughable.
Gruntovčan is top tier.
But for me, after Small Town, Beggar, and Sons, I’d put them right up there with Big City....
Where the Wild Swine Goes is also an excellent show.
Mamutica had a decent story going at the start...

Is this actually possible?
I’m not sure how much weight to give this—it could be edited or staged for effect—but still... there are some interesting points being made here.

Kyiv could be facing absolute chaos tonight if Russia decides to hit them with everything they've got.
Forget these so-called "strategic" objectives; at this point, it’s just pure, unbridled aggression.
A quick take on the upcoming game this Sunday...
All the hype and banners being put up around town won't change much. Whoever planned on showing up will be there, but don't expect the rest to follow suit...
We're looking at maybe 10,000 to 12,000 people at the Rose Bowl at most.....
Nothing, nobody??
I've got a neurology appointment lined up, but it's two months out...
I've read a bit about this, but honestly, everyone seems to have a different opinion....
Let's get this thread moving again.🙂
I just got my brain MRI results back today...
Among other things, it mentions:
a cystically changed pineal gland measuring 12x10 mm...
then there's a retention cyst in the right maxillary sinus at 13x7 mm, along with mucosal edema in the left nasal passages...
Has anyone here dealt with similar diagnoses?
For years, I’ve been struggling with headaches that just won't quit. Usually, my only option is heading to the ER for injections. It seems to be getting worse every single year, and this was actually the first MRI I've ever had done...
Does anyone know more about what this means?
Thanks...
