So, I just got a Microsoft Surface Pro as a gift. It’s a really nice little device, but I was honestly pretty caught off guard by the storage capacity—it only has a 59 GB SSD. Once you factor in the OS and everything else, more than half of that is already gone. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out the best way to expand my storage space.
This Microsoft Surface Pro has a micro SD slot and a micro 3.0 USB port (I already picked up a cable to convert it to a standard USB port). So, my options seem to be getting a micro SD card or maybe some kind of USB flash drive. I don't really want to go the external HDD route because those feel way too bulky for me. The most expensive move would probably be swapping out the SSD for a larger one, if that's even an option.
One other thing—I'd love to play a few games on this, so I'm wondering if running games from an external source actually works? Nothing crazy, just things like Mount & Blade or some older RPGs.
Just asking out of curiosity because they seem pretty practical—how good are these kinds of speakers, really? Does anyone here actually own a monitor like this?
So, you wouldn't recommend this Dell Inspiron then? What's your take on an Acer instead? I'm mostly curious about the performance gap between the GeForce GTX 960m vs 950. From what I've gathered, the first one uses DDR5 memory while the other relies on slower DDR3, so I imagine there's a noticeable difference. If anyone here has actually used both, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
First off, thanks for getting back to me. I'm glad I didn't just jump the gun on this one. Regarding the HP, I get what you mean about the one-year warranty, but I'm a bit lost on what this "Renew" label actually implies. Is it some kind of extended coverage or something?
I've been going back and forth on this for a while now. I was waiting for some sales or holiday deals, but once my Christmas bonus hits, I'm definitely pulling the trigger on one of these two laptops.
So, I'm looking for a gaming laptop (either 15.6 or 17.3 inches) in the $800-$900 range. I could probably stretch my budget by about 10% if you guys suggest something better.
My first pick is:
The second, more expensive option is this one:
Then there's this third possibility, though I'm not entirely sure what the reputation of this shop is like:
I'm using this Dell as my baseline since it's noticeably cheaper than the others, so I'm wondering if it's actually worth paying extra $500 for the GeForce GTX 960m and 4GB of RAM? This HP has a stronger processor and comes with macOS already installed, so it caught my eye.
I'd really appreciate your thoughts to help me make a call.
I'm looking to put together a new PC this fall. I feel like I've pretty much figured out everything else, but I'm still a bit lost when it comes to graphics cards. What would you say is the best value pick in the $500 range?
Thanks so much for clearing that up for me. Regarding the specific build, that’s pretty much what I was aiming for. Honestly, I’d be more than willing to stretch my budget by maybe 5% if it meant getting a high-quality setup—I really don't want to skimp on such a critical part. I feel a lot better informed now, so hopefully, I can finally make a decision.
Hey there. I’m having a really hard time pulling the trigger on a new PC. I’ve been browsing the deals over at Future, and honestly, I’m pretty confused about the actual differences between these various i4460 processors and the R9 280 graphics cards. It looks like there are three or four different versions of each, with price gaps ranging from $50 to $33. Since I’m definitely not an expert, I’m worried about making a mistake. Is it actually better to just grab one of their pre-built systems, or should I try building it myself from individual parts?
I’m really aiming to get an Intel i5 (and while we're on the subject, does anyone know the real difference between the i4460 and the Intel Core i5-4440 soc?) along with an AMD Radeon R9 280. But looking at the pre-built options, the prices climb up to $2000, and my budget is capped at $5,000. From what I can tell, those two components are basically the sweet spot for value right now.
What's actually the deal with the difference between AMD and Intel processors? I'm noticing a pretty big price gap between them, so I was wondering what the catch is.
I was wondering if you could help me put together a solid build for this budget. I’m mostly looking to game, though I’ll be using it for work stuff too. I don't need any peripherals—no monitor, mouse, or keyboard needed—so just the tower itself. It would be great if it came with Windows already installed, but I'm honestly not sure how much of a difference that makes to the total price.
I’m definitely a pessimist too. I tend to overthink everything. It’s constant. A few months back, I went through a bout of insomnia, and ever since then, I can't stop obsessing over my sleep stats. I find myself constantly comparing my numbers to everyone else's, feeling like some kind of broken machine. If I have just one bad night, I immediately feel like the world is ending. On top of that, I catch myself identifying with those extreme horror stories you hear about chronic sleep deprivation, and I get terrified that I’ll end up in that same downward spiral—just total, permanent insomnia. I honestly don't know how to shake these thoughts out of my head.
Hey everyone. I wanted to jump in here and ask about an issue my dad has been dealing with since he was a kid. I think there might have already been some discussion regarding unknown, but is it actually worth taking? Does it even help? He tried starting it recently, but he had a really rough reaction—running a fever, chills, the whole works. The lady who recommended it told him he should just push through because it’s just his body "detoxing." He ended up stopping, though. I’m just wondering if it’s even worth getting back on it or if it could be dangerous. Has anyone else dealt with something like this?
