Does a draft actually cause illness?

I’ve honestly had my fair share of bad luck when it comes to drafts... just right now, my ear is absolutely throbbing. There was this light breeze blowing through the house all day today, so I basically spent the entire afternoon sitting right in the line of fire.
And then there was that other nightmare... a while back, I was sleeping in a bed positioned right under a window that doesn't seal quite right. I woke up the next morning with my eyes looking bloodshot and raw. I ended up having to head to the doctor, and they prescribed some drops and ointments because I'd come down with a nasty case of conjunctivitis. :S
