I haven't really noticed any issues during the night; I tried experimenting with an extra pillow, but honestly, it didn't make a lick of difference. I don't experience acid reflux while I'm sleeping, nor do I wake up with a sore throat or that typical morning discomfort. For me, it’s strictly an immediate post-meal thing—that sour taste lingering on my tongue and occasionally a mild stinging sensation. And my tongue looks terrible, just completely white. My biggest concern right now is the long-term fallout from this condition. I’ve already reached out to ask if a gastroscopy might be necessary. Have any of you actually gone through with one? I know there’s a certain level of omerta in the medical field sometimes. Did your doctors even suggest it? My ENT mentioned that we might need to look into a gastrointestinal exam if my symptoms escalate or if the PPI stops doing its job.
Unfortunately, most ENT specialists just prescribe a heavy dose of PPIs for three to six months straight. It’s a bit of a blunt instrument, really. In my own case, my doctor gave me that exact diagnosis, and I was fully convinced I was dealing with chronic sinus issues myself.
What have your gastroenterologists actually told you regarding Laryngopharyngeal reflux? Is a gastroscopy even necessary at this stage? I came across some claim somewhere that ENTs handle LPR while GI specialists deal with GERD, though frankly, that distinction seems a bit nonsensical to me.
boldnomad45, where do you pick up your bottled water, and does it actually make a difference for you? Also, have you dealt with a white coating on your tongue? For me, things are at their absolute worst in the morning, right after that first meal. I had a few days of constipation, so I finally managed to relax, and now everything feels terrible again. I'm honestly not sure how much just getting a diagnosis will help; from what I've managed to dig up, there isn't some kind of magic bullet for this condition. It turns out it might actually be better to just deal with standard heartburn.
Zachary Gomez, thanks for getting back to me. I was prescribed Prilosec and took it for maybe a month, but honestly, things just felt worse, so I pulled the plug on that. Right now, my symptoms are mostly this mild burning sensation, a sour taste in my mouth, and a white coating on my tongue. It isn’t life-threatening, per se, but more of a mental drain—it wears you down psychologically. Stress was definitely the catalyst; I dealt with far too much of it this past year. I recently tried those mastic chewing tablets, but it feels like they might actually be making things worse. I even gave the whole apple cider vinegar in warm water thing a shot because I heard it works wonders, but it just sent my stomach into spasms. A lot of people have told me their symptoms cleared up once they started anxiety medication, which I am currently on, but I refuse to take anything for it right now since I'm planning to get pregnant. From what I gather, you've navigated pregnancy before—how did you handle it? Did the symptoms tend to ramp up during that time?
Greetings, Zachary Gomez. What did your diagnostic results actually show, and did they put you on any specific medications? What kind of symptoms are you battling right now, and what exactly
is providing you some relief?
Greetings, any updates here? I am particularly interested in the Reddit omerta situation, seeing as she actually has firsthand experience. An ENT specialist gave me a diagnosis and prescribed Prilosec. To be honest, I didn't take it very seriously at first since my symptoms weren't exactly overwhelming. I was under the impression it was just chronic sinus issues; I’ve ended up on antibiotics more times than I care to admit. However, this spring, I've had two distinct episodes where acid surged into my throat, leaving my throat looking quite red. Generally, there is a persistent sensation of dryness and that "lump in the throat" feeling, though it isn't debilitating. That said, my throat feels irritated and my tongue has developed a white coating. I have cut out coffee and alcohol entirely, and I don't smoke. I'm attempting to stick to boiled foods for now. What should my next move be? I already tested negative for H. pylori. While the discomfort isn't severe yet, I am genuinely anxious about the potential long-term consequences. I only took the Prilosec for a short period because it actually seemed to make things feel worse. Is an urgent endoscopy absolutely necessary? Thanks to everyone.
