Nobody walked away with anything serious, and George Russell had to pay the price by dropping out of the race himself. Regardless of who's actually at fault here, I don't think it was a situation that called for a penalty.

Jelena Veljača would probably claim he got off easy just because he's a privileged white guy.

If you want to pretend that’s the same thing as being "better," fine. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Being a better driver, driving a better race, and finishing higher up the order aren't the same things.

Brian Garcia24 said:... I'm not saying Leclerc wasn't looking a bit faster at that moment. He did have fresher tires, though...

Looking!? 😵
Let’s be real. Leclerc has been faster than Sainz in 90% of the laps driven so far.
Leclerc has grabbed 6 pole positions in 10 races this season. Sainz has one, and that was mostly thanks to the rain.

So,
Leclerc only looked faster
just in that specific moment
just a little
That’s a hell of an exaggeration. 🙏

Brian Garcia24 said:... But even then, it's not a crazy enough reason for Sainz to let him through...

Oh sure, it absolutely is.
What else are we supposed to do? Let a slower driver hold up a faster one and bleed precious time?

Brian Garcia24 said:... where does Ferrari get the right...

Authority comes from ownership.

Brian Garcia24 said:... where does Ferrari get the idea to favor Leclerc? Especially since this isn't their first season together, and we already have a pretty good sample size of how they stack up...

I guess they know who they should favor better than you do.
And they're using that exact "sample size" to make the call.
Do you actually think your "data" is any better than theirs!?

We aren't talking about Mick Schumacher.
You claimed Max Verstappen had nothing to lose. I’m telling you he had plenty—6 points on the line.

Since you've gone through such a long list of mistakes made by Charles Leclerc, care to mention if Max had any slip-ups at Indianapolis Motor Speedway?
Or even just one tiny little error?

Feel free to throw in a comment of your own.

He veered left right when Pierre Gasly was already there, leaving about a third—maybe even more—of George Russell's car in his wake.

George Russell veered left, probably trying to squeeze some kind of advantage out of the situation. It was a pretty sharp turn, too—not just a slight nudge. Honestly, it’s bizarre that he didn't spot Pierre Gasly in his rearview mirror. Just careless, really. Total lack of focus.
He’s caused plenty of damage. I'm guessing it all flew under the radar because everyone was too busy dealing with much bigger problems at the time.
I honestly don't even know if anyone bothered to look into it. 🤔 ?

Isn't that just how it works everywhere? Isn't that basically the golden rule of life?
Think about it like this:

Character-wise, Max fits perfectly with that duo of villains running Red Bull Racing.

Then there's Mercedes (and Toto), who benefit immensely from Lewis Hamilton's influencer status. Honestly, I can't tell who's doing more self-promotion. Looking back, those "negotiations" last year were a complete joke. They can't function without him, and he can't function without them. They've become one and the same.
The only outlier is that stiff, young Count, though he probably was born wearing a crown. But the way these guys constantly compliment each other and kiss up to one another? It’s getting hard to watch.

Mick finally grabbed his first point. He probably would've walked away with another position too, if he hadn't run straight into Max. Once Max shuts the door, there isn't even a crumb left for you...

That was a hell of a race. Intense from start to finish, and honestly, there’s more to talk about than just the podium results.

- For Sainz, this is win number one after 150 tries. Let's just hope it isn't his last, at least not while wearing this kit.
- Sainz also becomes the second Spanish driver ever to take a win.
- Alonso clocked up the most kilometers driven during the race.
- Russell finally lost that streak of finishing inside the top five.
- Max actually finished off the podium.
- Mick Schumacher finally grabbed his first points.
- Hamilton ended up with an FL.

The Ferrari brass just ran out of time.
They operate like NASA using 486 processors because they love "reliability," while everyone else is running current-gen tech.

It’s systemic. It isn't just one bad call; it's the entire framework.
They lack backbone when the pressure hits.
And I can't point a finger at one specific person because Binotto always covers for them. At the end of the day, he's the boss, so the buck stops with him.

I like him as a leader, but their race strategy is their Achilles' heel. That's a massive stain on his reputation as a manager.

Mercedes-Benz is back.
They might not be quite at the level of the top two yet, but Lewis Hamilton was actually fighting for the win during the whole race.

It didn't happen as fast as everyone predicted, but at least they have reliability—something Red Bull Racing and especially Ferrari can't say.

He cut left right when Gasly was already there—had at least a third of Russell's car ahead of him.

Last year he beat Charles Leclerc both on points and podiums.
This year he’s ahead on podiums, and we aren't even halfway through the season yet...

When you say idiots, are you talking about Ferrari or just people on this forum?
Sainz isn't a second driver, at least not based on how the race orders look.
The only time it happened was when Charles Leclerc was slightly ahead, so he got the priority.

darkmarlin16 said:Why pass up a chance to win? Why
Vamoos ...

It's probably a good thing he didn't listen to the pit wall, because that math was totally off.
Basically, Charles Leclerc played the buffer for him and made things easier. The real question is how it would've gone if Sainz had Sergio Perez breathing down his neck right behind him.

Richard Walker38 said:Leclerc just loses his mind mid-race. He goes full throttle against his own teammate, against everyone else. It would have been so easy for a few drivers to spin out during that race, including himself. Everything was decided by millimeters. He caught Sergio Perez twice and wrecked his front wing, shoved Carlos Sainz off track, and did the same to Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton..

His focus slips way too easily. The guy has the raw speed and the talent, but he lacks the composure. Max Verstappen might be hot-headed, but he can snap back and find his rhythm. With Leclerc, once he starts sliding, it's permanent. Once he loses the beat and makes a mistake, his brain just shuts off and he tries to brute-force his way back through sheer aggression.

This season alone, all that desperation has barely netted him a single win.

You clearly have some kind of grudge against Leclerc.
I don't know what it is, but you've basically put him on a blacklist. It would be easier if you just vented and told us what he actually did to offend you.

Otherwise, you're a reasonable person. You make sense and you're actually possible to talk to. 👍It's just whenever Leclerc comes up, your judgment goes right out the window.

How was Leclerc being more reckless or driving dirtier yesterday than, say, the two guys from Red Bull Racing?

Richard Walker38 said:...This season alone, all that desperation has barely netted him a single win.

Is he responsible for Monaco or Indianapolis? Not to mention those two mechanical failures when he had wins in the bag.
Which "desperate driving" were you even talking about?

Lawrence Garcia5 said:I can't believe how worked up people are getting just because Sky put Hamilton on the race cover.
I was just scrolling through and reading the comments, and man, it’s a mess.

It's probably just clickbait, plus he's one of their own drivers anyway.
But honestly, I doubt that's even the main reason. Even with his recent results, Ham is still hands down the most popular driver on the grid and remains the face of Formula 1.
If it weren't for him, I bet Massi would still be in F1; the guy owes a lot to Hamilton.

People are clearly hurting, but hey, that's life.
I find it hard to wrap my head around why people are so incredibly jealous and hateful toward those at the top.
Lionel Messi went through this, LeBron James dealt with it, and even my old man told me that people didn't exactly shower Michael Schumacher with love either.

That specific side of human nature just baffles me.
Look, I get it—there are millions of us out there, and nobody is going to be liked 100% of the time, but the sheer amount of hate being thrown around is just overkill.

There’s definitely an action-reaction dynamic happening here.
The British media built up this massive hype machine around Hamilton, and honestly, they're largely responsible for why he's so obsessed with the spotlight now.
So yeah, it shouldn't be a surprise when a huge chunk of people starts pushing back.

As for where things stand right now, I can see everything heading south for Hamilton.
If you ask me, the blame for that lies almost entirely on his own shoulders.

I just don't see enough raw dedication to racing or Formula 1 anymore.
When you see how much he loves the photo shoots and the media circus, it's obvious that Formula 1 is just one of many things he does to stay busy or entertained.

graniteharbor502 said:But what about those other laps where he had nothing but open track ahead of him? What kind of disadvantage does that actually pose to the rest of the field? 🍿

No complaints here. I honestly couldn't care less about those two or three laps you keep bringing up.
If someone was clearly the fastest driver all weekend, I don't think they need to offer any excuses or apologies.
Not a single major mistake, and zero instances of slamming into a wall like you were hoping for—or praying for, really.

IMO, Ferrari absolutely fell apart in Monaco.
There are plenty of people to blame here, but I can tell you one thing for sure: it definitely isn't the drivers.

Ferrari's pit wall completely misread the tire situation. They totally underestimated how much of an advantage fresh rubber would have over the wets.
Second off, that double pit stop they pulled with Charles Leclerc was just pure stupidity. Total blunder.
Then you've got those two idiots from Williams Racing. At least one of them—Alexander Albon—actually deserved to be called out and penalized. He just did whatever he felt like instead of following the rules regarding letting someone pass for a full lap.

And finally, there’s the luck factor.
Red Bull messed up the pit window and dropped Sergio Perez behind Lando Norris. Fine. At least they actually tried something.
If you ask me, they only brought Perez in for testing to see how things would shake out with Max. Big mistake. They just got lucky at the end of the lap because Lando was heading into the pits, which finally gave Perez some breathing room.
If Lando Norris had managed to squeeze out just one more lap before that pit window opened, or if Nicholas Latifi hadn't gotten in the way of Carlos Sainz, it’s pretty much a given that Sergio Perez wouldn't be standing on top of the podium.

Look, there were plenty of outside factors at play here, but if you ask me, his driving was the least of them.

If you actually believe Leclerc reached this point solely because of his driving, hey, that’s your prerogative. But based on everything I've read so far, you might be the only person here who thinks that.
