The 8800 GTS and the HD 4850 are pretty much on par; there isn't a huge gap between them. Just if you decide to go with the 4850, make sure you pick one with a better non-reference cooler.☕
There isn't much to debate here. If you aren't planning on upgrading that old power supply—which sounds pretty weak and unreliable—then just grab an HD4670 for about $90. But since you mentioned your current PSU is acting up, I’d at least suggest picking up a decent 350W or 400W unit from a brand like EVGA. That would get you much closer to $300☕

P.S. Just to be safe, check the label on your current power supply and let me know who actually manufactured it. 😉
Just grab whichever one is the cheapest and comes with a solid long-term warranty.👍
