I think this movie is absolutely fantastic! Maybe not on its own as a standalone piece when you look at all the expressive tools and technical qualities—or lack thereof—but as a project created by a handful of enthusiasts who actually pulled off their vision? It’s honestly brilliant and super inspiring! That documentary about how the film was made is one of the better ones out there, and easily the best American one I've seen lately (not that there's much competition given how many people seem to be working with shaky legs, slow fingers, and totally untapped brains—though I guess we should probably say minds instead of brains, since a brain is just an organ, whereas a mind implies actual will, consciousness, and some level of self-reflection and activity).
I felt so genuinely happy just getting to watch it! And honestly, the American trailer is probably the most genius thing to ever happen to American cinema; it’s basically the entire history of American film in a quick flash! If I had seen it sooner, I probably wouldn't have even bothered reading Skrabalo or that monograph by Antun Vrdoljak!
