Thanks, guys. I think I'll go with one of the two options Timothy Kim60 suggested..

Guys, I just landed from Mars and honestly, I have zero motivation to actually study any of this. I haven't kept up with component specs in 4 or 5 years. Can someone just throw out some "best buy" suggestions for under 1200/$433
?

lol good thing I'm only on the admin panel every other day, otherwise I would have missed this entirely! 😁

stormywolf39 said:To follow up on my previous breakdown regarding graphics cards, I took TechPowerUp’s performance summaries for current cards at 1920x1200 resolution, tracked down their lowest prices currently available in the US, and put together a roundup. This covers price, performance relative to the top-tier 5970, and "bang for buck"—that sweet spot of value versus raw power:

Card Model / Price / Performance / Bang for buck

HD5970 /100%/4100/24.3
GTX 480 /87%/3000/29
HD5870 /75%/1850/40.5
NVIDIA GTX 470 /71%/1850/38.4
HD6870 /71%/1700/41.8
HD5850 /64%/1600/40
HD6850 /61%/1330/45.9
NVIDIA GTX 460 1Gb /59%/1250/47.2
NVIDIA GTX 460 768 Mb/55%/1150/47.8
HD5830 /50%/1400/35.7
HD4870 /45%/950/47.3
HD5770 /44%/1000/44
GTX450 /37%/830/44.8
HD4850 /36%/800/45

Obviously, with the last metric, higher is better. Of course, there are other variables to consider—power draw, noise, thermals, and DX10/DX11 support—but this snapshot shows a few things: the 5870 and 6870 are better values than the GTX 470. The 6850 and the GTX 460 1GB are neck-and-neck in terms of value; the 6850 offers slightly better performance, but the solid overclocking potential of the 460 makes it a tight race. Even at its current low price, the 5850 isn't a great buy; the price would need to drop further to make it worth picking up right now. In the lower tier, the HD4870 still looks surprisingly cost-effective, even if it's pushing the lower limits of acceptable performance for this resolution.

Nice work. Very thorough.

Just tell me one thing: where in the States can I actually find an 5870 for $617? 🙂

Thanks for the reply...
$117! That sounds perfectly reasonable after a few years of peace!

I’ve only been dealing with this recently—maybe a month or so ago. My dentist put me on some antibiotics, which triggered terrible diarrhea, and then, boom, hemorrhoids.
I kept hoping they’d just go away on their own. Maybe they aren't that bad, but I’ve come to terms with it now... especially since I started seeing traces of blood on the toilet paper. Once I mentioned it to my mom, she admitted my dad has dealt with hemorrhoids for thirty years. So, there's no mistake here; the genetics are definitely working against me. 😁

I’ve been reading through this thread and doing some Googling. I agree that they’re most often caused by an unhealthy lifestyle or a poor diet, but it seems like (in most cases) even when you fix your habits, they tend to stick around, whether they're active or not. Honestly, I think it might be best to just go straight for the procedure so I can have some peace. This itching and burning is becoming unbearable. 😢

I just got back from having my Barron ligatures applied to my backside.
I'm curious if anyone else has gone through this—how was the recovery process for you? So far, it’s not too bad...
Thanks in advance!

Oh, and one more thing... I have no clue how to prevent them from coming back... at least nothing groundbreaking.
My lifestyle was honestly pretty messy, so I'm hoping these things don't return once I actually fix my habits! (And I plan to.)

How are you feeling after a week? Also, mind sharing where you had the procedure done and what the total cost ended up being?
Thanks for all the input..

I’m leaning toward the antibiotics being the culprit too. Whether they triggered hemorrhoids or something slightly less dramatic remains to be seen..
I feel better than I did two days ago, but I'm definitely not back to normal yet. I'll just monitor how things progress before deciding if a trip to the doctor is actually necessary..

Now I'm just sitting here regretting taking them. Everyone kept telling me, "Just take them, don't be dramatic." Honestly, it feels like my dentist handed them out just to make sure everything would settle down by the time my extraction appointment rolls around. In hindsight, I have a feeling it probably would have cleared up on its own anyway..
It says diarrhea is a possible side effect.

Hemorrhoids? Yeah, I’m not a fan of that prospect. I was really hoping this was just some reaction to the antibiotics, especially since everything flared up right when I started taking that poison.
Look, I apologize if this sounds a bit crude. I’ll try to keep it somewhat decent, but nature is nature, and this is just how it is...

So, I'm 27, and thank God, I’ve managed to go my whole life without ever needing an antibiotic... until last week. A wisdom tooth started killing me, so I went to my dentist. He told me the area was badly inflamed and abscessed, so he had to pull it—but first, he prescribed antibiotics to settle the infection and clear out the bacteria.

He put me on Clindamycin, 300mg. By the second day, I already had nasty diarrhea. Then, the day after that, I started feeling pain down there whenever I wiped after a bowel movement. Eventually, it turned into this itching, which was maybe even better—just a little itch here and there while wiping.
I finished my last dose of antibiotics last Saturday.
Throughout this week, I felt like things were slowly calming down; I'd get some itching during or shortly after using the bathroom.
But the day before yesterday, the itching became much more intense and unbearable.
Yesterday, it actually started burning when I used the bathroom and wiped... and it all culminated last night with a bout of quasi-diarrhea that was painfully stinging.
And the worst part is, it hasn't let up. It's been stinging slightly all night, and it still is now.😢

Do you think this is a side effect of the antibiotics, or could it be something else entirely?
Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to get this to settle down?

Here’s one of those controversial posts:

It’s honestly ridiculous. I’m pretty sure my sister wouldn't even be able to find that subforum, let alone understand what's going on here. 😁

I’m posting from my sister’s computer (she used to use the username adele_also on here). Here’s the issue: she apparently checked a "remember me" box at some point, and now every time I log onto this forum from this machine, I end up logged in as her. I make sure to log out properly and sign in as myself every single time, but after clicking around for a bit, the site just flips back to her account automatically.
I even accidentally posted two things in the finance section under her handle. One was even written in the masculine tense, which was pretty awkward.

I have no idea how to fix this.

I suppose wiping the hard drive would solve it, but I can't bring myself to format my entire computer over something this trivial.
