Honestly, I highly doubt a driver of that caliber would just sit out a season in today's Formula 1 landscape, especially since there's a fresh batch of wild rumors every single year and you really have to stay plugged in to keep up.

Maybe Lewis Hamilton signs a one-year deal with McLaren for 2015, and then in 2016 we see this massive swap between Mercedes and McLaren—Lewis Hamilton moves to Mercedes, and Hamilton heads over to McLaren.

Or maybe he just jumps to Lotus in 2015, assuming they're running those Mercedes engines.
