Did I completely misread the room here? Are we really going to act like nobody will be talking about the greatest shooter to ever play the game fifteen years from now? It’s not just that he’ll be mentioned; people will be debating exactly where he sits within the top 10 or 15 basketball players of all time.

Russell Westbrook is being brutally, absolutely undervalued right now, but once people realize a decade from now that this man was averaging triple-doubles for three straight years, I truly believe that perception is going to shift significantly.

As for Kawhi Leonard, he cemented his legendary status with that shot over Serge Ibaka, which will go down as one of the most iconic moments of this century—especially when you consider he spearheaded that entire run to bring a championship to Toronto. 🙏

Look, you don't even realize that tennis has historically been seen as one of those sports with incredibly short careers where the younger guys usually run the show.

Sure, players in their 30s have won tournaments, but people usually just stood around admiring them, marveling at how they could still pull off a win in their later years.

You really need to brush up on your history here and not just base your whole take on what's been trending over the last decade. Now I see why you think Novak Djokovic is the GOAT.

And let's not forget that Novak Djokovic won half of his Grand Slams in Australia, which is impressive and all, but come on...

With 12 French Open titles under his belt, Rafael Nadal is still ahead of Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer is catching up fast.

If we want to take a trip through history, the only player outside of the Big Three to win a Grand Slam before the age of 26 in the last 17 years is Juan Martín del Potro. In the last ten years, we've seen only three winners outside of that elite trio:

Stan Wawrinka - 3 Grand Slams between ages 30 and 32

Andy Murray - 3 Grand Slams between ages 26 and 30

Marin Čilić - the only Grand Slam title coming right at the end of his 26th year.

We could dig even deeper into history, but what's the point? It wouldn't be the same sport anymore. Across most other sports, athlete longevity has increased and prime years are arriving much later; tennis isn't the only thing being affected by this shift.

This whole argument about the Australian Open is nonsense to me. If we applied that exact same logic, Roger Federer would have won nearly half of his titles at Wimbledon, on a surface used for three tournaments a year where the conditions change from court to court and day to day. 🤷

Susan Kim2 said:Tennis is physically exhausting and purely individual. Because of that, players usually hit their absolute prime between ages 22 and 26. Look at the timeline: Becker, Sampras, Agassi, Federer, and even Nadal, who started picking up those GS wins right in that age bracket. And finally, there's Novak.
It’s like saying Jordan was playing against everyone once he matured, even though Bird and Magic had already had their primes in the 80s.
Honestly, even in snooker, it's hard to stay at the top past a certain age without a total reset. In tennis? It's practically impossible.

I have to disagree with that assessment; most of them actually reach true maturity anywhere from their early 30s through the end of their careers. Take Roger Federer, for instance—he secured five Grand Slam titles between the ages of 22 and 26, yet he also managed five more from age 31 to 33. I would argue quite confidently that his play looked significantly more dominant and composed after he turned 30 than it ever did during his twenties.

For me, the biggest challenge in evaluating Novak Djokovic is his uncanny ability to systematically dismantle highly reputable opponents even on his worst days; because he doesn't rely solely on service percentages or hitting winners and forced errors, but instead maintains this constant, controlled style where he can simply dial the intensity up or down based on his opponent's rhythm and mood.

I will never regret missing out on seeing Ronaldo in his absolute prime. I hear so much about his dominance and how effortlessly he scored that it’s almost demoralizing to have to settle for grainy highlight reels. It makes it nearly impossible for me to rank him accurately on any all-time list. It is a different matter entirely with Pelé and Maradona, whom I never saw live, as they are much easier to glorify from a distance. When you only start watching someone in the twilight of their career, is it even possible to truly grasp just how transcendent they once were? You see the same phenomenon with Favre in the NFL, or even Peyton Manning.

It is truly a shame that this serves as the grand finale to what was supposed to be a civilized early morning debate. Honestly, even Andy Murray looks like a saint compared to the absolute disgrace mentioned above. ☕

Grand Slam titles: Djokovic 17 vs. Federer 20 (considering Federer is six years older, isn't it actually quite reasonable that Djokovic is closing the gap?)

Masters titles: Djokovic 34 - Federer 28

Head to head: Djokovic 27 - Federer 23 (with an 11-6 edge at the Grand Slams)

One has to consider the sheer reality that Djokovic has spent his entire career battling legends like Nadal and Federer, whereas Federer managed to rack up 12 Grand Slam titles before Djokovic even secured his first one.

Elizabeth Mendoza said:Djokovic isn't even in the same league as Federer.

The issue with Djokovic is his lifestyle. Ever since he started dating that woman, he’s turned into this total health nut—all about the vegan stuff and broccoli. It's ridiculous. Even his own people back home mock him constantly. He's totally lost his edge.

He’s been with that woman since high school. And honestly, if you ask me, switching to a plant-based diet was the only thing that actually saved his career; before that shift, he was spiraling, completely burnt out and running on empty. But once he made the change? He started absolutely crushing it again.

Setting aside his messy personal life for a moment, I honestly believe he’s already surpassed Federer on the all-time list—making him the undisputed GOAT—and I have plenty of data to back that up, but will he ever truly be recognized as the greatest? Probably not, because he hails from this specific corner of Europe, and out here, the bias is simply too entrenched to overcome. As for those constant media outbursts, isn't the real issue the suffocating influence of his inner circle, the relentless public scrutiny, and the crushing weight of being labeled one of the most prominent figures from his background? It feels like he's perpetually trapped in a cycle of trying to prove himself against a world that has already decided who he is.

His technical skill and social intelligence aren't even worth debating; you simply cannot perform at that level and be an idiot in any capacity, can you? I refuse to believe otherwise because this isn't one of those sports where nature hands you eighty percent of your success on a silver platter, like you see in basketball or football.

I picked up chess last summer, but after that initial burst of enthusiasm, my drive to actually study seems to have just evaporated. I’ve managed to memorize the basics of a few openings, but everything beyond that feels like a complete dead end, leaving me perpetually stuck hovering right around a 1200 rating. Does anyone have any actual advice on how to properly kickstart this process? I know there is an endless sea of tutorials online, but I am more interested in hearing about your own personal experiences and what actually worked for you.

From what I can gather, only the first one is on Netflix.

EDIT: No, wait—it looks like there are actually two. 👍

I just finished watching it, though I have to admit I was questioning my own sanity yesterday; after finishing the seventh episode, the platform didn't offer this one up, leaving me wondering if I had simply lost my mind.

It’s truly a phenomenon how these glitches pop up out of nowhere here, which makes me wonder what kind of technical chaos they deal with over in the USA. 🙏

Are you suggesting that Ozark is actually worth the time? I've been skipping it so far, but at this point, I'm starting to run dangerously low on things to watch.

I thought I was going to feel physically ill after listening to that song and hearing what those individuals had to say about it, but then I actually went and read the comments.

I’m finally sitting down to watch Mindhunter on Netflix. I’ve been putting this off for years...

It’s the same story with Altered Carbon—I keep skipping over it, but once I finally wrap up my shows about Mexicans (after finishing Narcos, I’ll move on to Chapa) and dive into Freud, I suppose I'll tackle it if there's nothing else worth my time.

The English game is actually quite decent. Sure, some of the football scenes feel a bit ridiculous, but the overall atmosphere is solid, and you might even see a few good beards pop up. ☕

Renault completely screwed Ricciardo over with that moronic one-stop strategy. How on earth does a top-tier team even come up with such a brainless tactical blunder?

Who is your NFL team and why? in Other Sports ·
I just stumbled upon this thread, and naturally, we’re talking about the Packers. Ever since I started following the NFL back in 2010, it was always that specific era—no ownership drama, the legendary Lambeau Leap, and a young QB with massive potential flanked by guys like Jennings, Nelson, and even Charles Kuhn (🙏) holding it down at fullback, all while having BJ Raja (🙏 🙏) and Clay 🙏
anchoring the defense.
What an absolute blast that squad was, weren't they? They didn't waste any time either, handing us a Super Bowl right out of the gate. But then mid-season, everything turned into a desperate scramble for the playoffs because after Aaron Rodgers took a concussion, Flynn basically threw himself on a grenade in Boston just to keep things moving, which somehow kicked the Packers' playoff run into gear two weeks earlier than expected 🙏

Gentlemen, I will do my absolute best to have Group A finished by Thursday or Friday, though I can make no definitive promises; honestly, the workload at the university is significantly more overwhelming than I had anticipated 😢

If anyone happens to have the inclination and some spare time, I would be truly grateful if you could take over my cross
I posted over in that previous thread just so I could draft an introduction for Group A, assuming Casey White13 can confirm if that hasn't already been claimed by someone else 👍
