Dealing with lactose intolerance? in Health ·
You really ought to check with your doctors to see if lactase enzyme tablets are available here in the States. I have this friend who lives in Switzerland, and she deals with lactose intolerance. It’s actually pretty easy for her over there because they have access to "standard" dairy products that have been specifically processed to strip out the lactose. I’ve tried some of those products myself—they tend to taste a little sweeter than the regular stuff.
Whenever my friend goes out to eat, she always makes sure to bring her lactase tablets along—I think she takes them right before the meal—just so she doesn't end up feeling miserable if there's dairy in her food.
When she was visiting me, we actually scoured the entire city of Chicago looking for lactose-free dairy options, mostly because she found the soy milk from Whole Foods to be a bit bland. But we couldn't find anything at all! 😠 It honestly broke my heart seeing her having to struggle through the whole trip relying on those tablets!!!

It’s basically an assessment of whether someone is physically fit for the role, but under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, it's actually mandatory. And don't even get me started on those $20 issues🙂

In my neck of the woods, everyone goes for their checkups. It just depends on the industry—sometimes it's once a year, sometimes every two years.
I honestly think every company ought to be sending their staff for these. If nothing else, it's just good practice so management actually knows the true condition of their 😬 workforce!

My pay stub actually lists my specific working conditions. I know it’s mostly just formal stuff regarding computer work—I get sent those mandatory health and safety evaluations every single year, and one of them specifically covers workstation ergonomics and screen time! It feels like a bit of a bureaucratic hoop to jump through, honestly—but hey, if it means my base pay is slightly higher because of it, I am certainly not going to complain!

I honestly don't have a clue what's going on here! 😕

Emily Newman78 said:$20Wait, where did you actually find the legal requirement stating that I need to know this? If there are several of you working under the exact same conditions—maybe try banding together a bit. He's legally obligated to follow through. Or, you know, someone could just "anonymously" give the inspectors a call.🙂

Everyone working on a computer at the company should get that money! Though, if I recall correctly, I don't think that's actually written into the law.

Honestly, you should push your boss a bit—under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, they're legally required to provide a workspace that doesn't mess with your health.

My manager only gives me $20 as a little bump in my paycheck because I spend all day staring at a monitor! I think he actually believes that's enough compensation. As for getting a decent screen? Yeah, right—I might as well dream about it!!! 👎

I’ve got a seriously terrible monitor at work—honestly, it’s a struggle just to get through the day. I don't see any chance of my boss actually upgrading it anytime soon, either. It’s funny, though—whenever I get home, I’m always struck by how much better my personal setup feels compared to this office nightmare. Is there still such a thing as those little screens or filters you can put in front of a monitor to make it easier on your eyes? If they do exist, what am I supposed to be searching for?
thanks

I’m also a total tea fanatic. I tried that Biofarm aloe vera tea from CVS recently, but honestly? It wasn't really my thing—unless you sweeten it up with a little bit of Starbucks powder, which makes it much more palatable. On the other hand, I picked up a cranberry tea from the same place yesterday and it was absolutely phenomenal (also from Biofarm). Beyond that, I have to mention this fruit tea blend from Aromatica—it’s basically my go-to. I drink it instead of plain water, just adding a touch of honey and lemon. It’s seriously amazing!!!
☕ 🙂 (just imagine there's tea in those glasses!!!)
