Lisa Ortiz17 said:I went twice yesterday (I usually go once a week) for 10 minutes in the turbo booth.
My face ended up much darker than my body, so I’m thinking about covering my whole head next time. 😁
Has anyone else run into this issue?
I just turn off the light for my face because it gives me freckles. If you're standing up, you can always throw a towel over your head or something. 🙂
Lisa Ortiz17 said:I’m not sure if anyone else mentioned the mandatory makeup removal. They have cotton pads, wipes, and Neutrogena cleanser available right in the changing stalls.
I usually head there first thing in the morning, straight out of bed, so I’m never actually wearing any makeup... though my skin definitely shows it.👍 😁
I haven't caught up on the thread yet, so I might have missed this being discussed (it probably has come up), but—as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong)—some people really shouldn't be drinking milk because they lack the enzyme to break it down properly. For those folks, partially fermented options like yogurt or kefir are usually the way to go.

I'm looking forward to summer and the beach as much as anyone, but honestly, I don't think I'll see any of it this year. 😢
So, has anyone else caught wind of that whole spray paint thing? 😕
restlesstiger31 said:I'm not saying don't 🙂 but maybe going that often isn't the best move. How long do you actually need to tan?
The owner at the tanning salon told me to go every couple of days until I hit my goal color (I've been sticking to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and then just switch to once a week for maintenance. I’m aiming to be done by the 28th. After that, I'm hanging up the UV lamp for good.🙂
restlesstiger31 said:Sophia Castillo35, how did your skin react after 5 minutes? If everything looked normal, go for 10. But if you noticed any redness, irritation, stinging, or whatever—stick to 7 or even go back to 5. How was the reaction?
Everything was fine, no changes at all. I went with 10. And things are okay now. I'm doing it again on Monday. Honestly, it’s getting a bit annoying having to do this so frequently 😬 Should I stick with ten again? (Yeah, yeah, I know I'm being tedious—it's just that I'm still figuring out the process...) 🙂 don't judge me 🙂
I'm hanging out at Savannah. Ladies, how many minutes? 😬
I'm heading back for another round tomorrow. Should I go with 7 or 10 minutes? 😬
I’ve been hunting through the forums looking for a thread like this, but everything seemed empty. I was actually about to reach out to someone for help—if you don't mind me asking, why was it removed? 😠 —when I finally stumbled upon this. What a find. 👍
This is officially my first favorite thread. 😍 😁
silentowl43 said:Man, that sounds terrifying. I get claustrophobic just thinking about small spaces, and I had no idea you actually have to close it all the way up.
I saw a movie once where a woman got stuck inside, and 😲 honestly, it freaked me out. Even though it was just fiction, I'm still feeling a bit uneasy about it.
How does the standing version work? Is that one just as enclosed?
You don't have to. She actually asked me if I was nervous. To be honest, I was pretty uneasy—just imagining having to be rescued while I'm stuck in there totally naked... 😳 🙄 😁
restlesstiger31 said:Honestly, I never quite understood the appeal. It feels like I should be getting paid to use a standing tanning bed. I went there to relax, lie down, and unwind, not to stand around...😉
That’s exactly what I told myself while lying there... just relaxing and enjoying the vibe... though I did end up cleaning everything myself once I was done.😁
restlesstiger31 said:You basically wrote an entire saga about five minutes of tanning! 🙂
By the way, who is this woman in the story? Why is she shouting? They're in the same room, aren't they?
It’s actually one large room split into three sections by some white wooden partitions or whatever. You're technically separated, but barely—you can still hear everything and carry on a conversation.
I didn't shower. And honestly, I wasn't even hot. 😁
Well, I'm back. It went okay, I guess; the attendant gave me 5 minutes. :klap:
Here's the deal—I walk in, say hello, and explain that I really just need 5 minutes because my skin is super sensitive and I have sun allergies, so I wanted to see how my skin reacts. She was just like, "Sure, go ahead, 5 minutes." I head inside, take a look, and yep, there's eye protection. There's also spray and wipes... So I wipe everything down perfectly and get ready to undress when it hits me—how awkward is it to strip down here? 😳 I'm thinking, Desirée, you idiot, you're behind closed doors (and the woman is calling out to me from outside)—what's the big deal?? 🙄 Anyway, I undress, tie up my hair, put the eye covers on, pull down the canopy (or whatever you call it), and think to myself: I hope I closed this right, otherwise everyone on this forum is going to laugh at me if I end up with a tan on only one side. 😬 🥳
Then the machine starts buzzing (man, it is loud) and I lie there for a bit while it whirs away. I start wondering: What now? Do I go out? Do I wait longer? This thing is buzzing... The woman yells, "You can come out once the lights turn off!" And I'm like, "I've got stuff on my eyes, I don't know if they've turned off yetttttttt..." 😂 Hopefully they have—I take a quick peek, and it looks like they are. I take the eye covers off—okay, lights are out, time to go. I try to lift the lid—it won't budge. Fak. Now she’s going to have to come in and pull me out while I'm standing here naked. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa 😳 😠 Then I try again and again—pop, it opens. Thank God. ...I finally get out, spend forever getting dressed, and wipe down the tanning bed...
I survived my first time. 👋 Part two coming soon.
👋
PS - I had to delete some emojis. *Sniff*
It’s about $1.00/min over here, which feels fair since I’m not in downtown Chicago—just heading to my own neighborhood. I guess I'll just see what happens 😁
Wish me luck, I'm headed 🙂 and should be there soon
The lid, the hair, those eyes... I still remember 😬
Keep them coming if anything else pops into your heads 😁
I'll take a quick look at what you've all written before I head out 😁
Casey Palmer5 said:Those tiny goggles used in tanning beds actually serve a purpose and really should be worn. They're small enough that they just cover the eyelids, so there aren't any awkward gaps.
Fair enough, I'll wear them if they have them available. I'm heading in tomorrow at 9:00. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Oh, and one more thing—I was planning on starting with 5 minutes, then bumping it to 7 and then 10, but the technician is insisting I start at 10 every time. That feels like a lot... what do you guys think? Is that overkill?
Betty Hill82 said:Regarding hair care—I didn't really take precautions until I noticed my color fading way too fast and my ends getting super dry. Now, I just keep it in a ponytail or cover it up with something.
I’ll probably end up doing something about it. Oh, right—I don't actually dye my hair...
