Anesthesia experiences? in Health ·
Elizabeth Miller8 said:The role of an anesthesiologist carries immense responsibility—something most people fail to grasp entirely. It seems the surgeons are always showered with flowers and gifts, while the anesthesiologists—who essentially held their lives in their hands—are rarely given a second thought. Though, of course, everything ultimately rests in divine hands.

I couldn't agree more... there’s even a little joke floating around medical circles:Why did Sleeping Beauty sleep for a hundred years? She had a terrible anesthesiologist! 🙂

Raymond Bennett9: There really is nothing to fear; anesthesiologists know exactly what they're doing. You certainly don't need any extra stress before surgery... everything will be fine!!!!

Does anyone know what kind of side effects general anesthesia can actually cause?
And isn't there anyone from the US, Europe, or Australia who can weigh in on how things work over there?

I'm not from abroad, but I can share my own experience—two instances of general anesthesia within a single month. The first was for surgery; I was back on my feet within two hours, no nausea or lingering issues whatsoever. The second was for some uncomfortable diagnostic procedures—an injection, then out like a light—they woke me up shortly after, and the whole thing lasted maybe thirty minutes. The only real consequence was that I didn't quite trust myself enough to drive immediately.

It used to be noted in those old paper insurance booklets, too.

But there’s zero space for anything on these modern ones.

I've had a sulfa allergy for about a decade now. It's clearly flagged in my digital file, so I make sure to warn doctors if I'm visiting an urgent care center—say, while on vacation or during a hospital stay. But since nothing is printed in these new medical cards... it’s a real concern if you end up in the ER unconscious after an accident.

But, given how easy it is to buy just about anything with cash these days, most pharmacists will sell you whatever you want—including this—without one.

Naturally—why wait months for Medicare to reimburse them when they can just take the cash upfront?
