So, this seller tells you it’s a gift, but let’s be real—that doesn't always fly with US Customs when they're looking at your package.

Well, that might help you get through customs, but the real question is whether you actually have the legal authority to import it and what kind of paperwork you’re using to do it

I handled my own import through my LLC, so I just paid the customs duties and sales tax directly

From what I gather, when you use Walmart, you're essentially sending cash directly to an individual rather than a registered corporation, so that probably won't hold any water if you're actually trying to clear a formal customs shipment through official channels

If you're using Alibaba, you can actually see how many years each vendor has been active on the platform, which is really the first thing you ought to check; if they’ve only been around for a single year, I’d probably just steer clear entirely.
Alibaba also has its own community forums, so you can pretty much dig into the feedback and gauge how much people actually trust a specific seller.

I don't know, personally I felt like just getting those photos sent over via email was plenty since we were really just talking about souvenirs

It’s not like shipping from China is some luxury service; of course they can just ship it directly in your name.

I actually had to shell out my own money to cover the cost of getting the samples made first.

Every single year, I pick up a pretty substantial bulk order of ceramics from one particular vendor over on Alibaba.

The thing you really have to watch out for is making sure that seller has been an active user on the platform for at least two years. It’s basically a built-in litmus test; if they're just some fly-by-night operation or a total scammer, they usually get caught and flagged by then.

When it comes to customs, you're basically playing a game of chance with the government🙂

And seriously, keep a close eye on what people are saying about the seller before you pull the trigger
Every buyer leaves their own little review, and if you actually take the time to read them, you'll get the real story on whether this guy is reliable or if his stuff is just cheap junk

Even if I were based in Canada, I still think you absolutely need to have your own business set up to import goods for resale

I honestly don't think a simple retail shop can pull that off on its own

Yeah, it’s me, and look, the warehouse isn't acting as an agent here, but my agent gave me specific instructions on where to ship the goods after he picked them up from Canada

I’ve done some wholesale trading through Alibaba with two different manufacturers, and honestly, I didn't run into any major headaches
Everything was handled online, and as for the money, I paid a deposit upfront and then cleared the rest once production wrapped up.

So, here’s how it went down: I had a contact at a warehouse in China who took possession of the goods and then coordinated the shipping over to Canada using a local freight forwarder. By the time everything landed, including all the shipping costs and taxes, my total came out to roughly $240 per square meter.

Since the product didn't require specific origin documentation or formal labeling, the whole process felt a lot more streamlined than usual.

I ended up paying via my personal bank account rather than running it through a business entity.

If you're looking at Alibaba, though, you really need to dig into how long a manufacturer has actually been active on the site; they often use their tenure as a sort of unofficial "guarantee" of reliability, which can be a bit misleading if you aren't careful.
Anyway, that's just my take on it based on what I went through.

What’s the word on container shipping rates lately—are we looking at an uptick or have things actually cooled off compared to back in the spring?

Sophia Cook4, the port is XIAMEN and you can't send private messages here

I tracked down some inventory—ceramic souvenirs from a factory out in Savannah, Delaware, via Fujian FOB (not entirely sure which specific port in China we're talking about here), using 20ft containers at $2,500 and 40ft ones at $4,000

I’m trying to figure out if these numbers actually hold water or if I'm dreaming here.

Also, quick side note: does anyone here handle imports for the Memphis area?
Dealing with a hemangioma in Health ·
Lawrence Wells, do you actually have some real-world experience dealing with removing a hemangioma, or are you just another guy talking big about stuff you don't know?

P.S. If this is too private for the public eye, please just hit me up in a DM.
