How to get started with agtech and farming investments? in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Does anyone have any leads on workshops or training programs for aspiring fruit growers, vegetable farmers, or beekeepers?
I’ve been scouring various USDA websites and government agency pages, but I haven't come across any actual announcements.
As a complete novice looking to launch my own small family farm, wouldn't it be helpful to hear from actual experts, meet fellow beginners, or even tour some established orchards? How does one even begin to organize all of that?
Commuting to work by bike in Cycling ·
Rebecca Chase73 said:It’s just the same endless cycle of ups and downs, over and over again. Is anyone actually surprised? 🤣
The route starts out flat, transitions into a gentle incline, and finishes with a brutal descent. Is that supposed to be a challenge?

That’s exactly my biggest issue. I used to ride my bike constantly—it only took me about 45 minutes to get from downtown Chicago to the suburbs. Wouldn't that be nice?
From my house to the office, I have to tackle three climbs and three descents. Is there any other way to start a workday? 3.1 miles It’s not actually that much mileage, considering I spend half my life just driving up and down hills. Is anyone else's odometer working harder than it needs to?
Would I show up to work completely drenched in sweat? 👎
Does anyone actually commute through these rolling hills on their way to work?
Trying to lose weight before getting pregnant! in Hobbies & Leisure ·
There is really no need to worry. What actually matters is getting enough vitamins and minerals into your system (not just fats).
Here is a handy link
If a woman was already eating plenty of raw fruits, vegetables, and dairy before becoming pregnant, she won't need to overhaul her diet much. In fact, during the first trimester, you should be eating just as much as you were before.

Of course, if we're talking about significant weight gain like what mellowhound17 is dealing with, you absolutely must consult a doctor! Seriously! Given potential underlying health issues, any weight loss needs to be strictly supervised by a medical professional!
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
After taking everyone’s advice to heart, here is what actually worked for me:
Taking muscle relaxants and Advil in the morning
Maintaining impeccable hygiene using lukewarm water
Getting plenty of walks in
Cutting back on the spicy food
The occasional application of hemorrhoid cream

And now, everything is perfectly fine. 👋
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
Another "patient" joining the fray.
I've dealt with hemorrhoids since forever (even though I'm only 26 now). But honestly, about a year ago, I had a genuine panic attack when I saw a significant amount of blood in my stool. I rushed to a specialist at a hospital in Chicago. Everything seemed fine there, except for the endless waiting... the doctor just goes, "Oh, it's just hemorrhoids. Use some ointment, stay clean, and go get a colonoscopy." Well, I’ve stayed clean, the hemorrhoids seem to have "improved," I couldn't stomach using the ointment, and I skipped the colonoscopy.

What exactly are they looking for during a colonoscopy?

Update on my saga: I was pretty terrified again today because I'm bleeding, and it isn't even tied to bowel movements... I actually broke down crying to my husband... I'll have to see a doctor again. 🙄 ...but those colonoscopies terrify me...
In the meantime, I picked up some cream from my local pharmacy—it has menthol and feels quite cooling... we'll see if it actually works.
I felt like I had to share this with you all, and maybe you could offer some advice. 😉

Besides the pain and discomfort during bowel movements, what are the actual complications of hemorrhoids?
