Try the local community health center—Dr. Irena Prica is great. I'm not entirely sure about the paperwork side of transferring everything, but honestly, I'm pretty sure you can get it done.

So, here’s the deal: I finished my period normally and took a seven-day break from the pills like you're supposed to do. I started back up again, but then I totally messed up—I missed a day, tried to play catch-up by popping two pills at once the next day, and immediately after that, my period came crashing back in. It’s only been fifteen days since my last one! Now I'm sitting here wondering if my hormones are just completely haywire or if something else is going on... could I actually be pregnant?????????????????????????? Please, someone, I need some help here!
Look, I don't know which specific brand you're on, but you really have to follow the instructions—you know, those little leaflets that tell you exactly what to do if you miss a dose. If you just start winging it and doing your own thing, it’s honestly no surprise that your body's internal rhythm is all out of whack and you ended up bleeding again. And honestly? You can't be pregnant if you're actually having a period xD
Does anyone have a recommendation for a gynecologist in Washington, D.C.? I’m looking for someone who actually does a thorough job—you know, really listens—and won't judge me for asking what feel like "stupid" questions. Also, it would be a huge help if they accept Medicare referrals. Thanks!

It’s pressing right on the cauda equina and both S1 nerve roots—basically a massive diagnosis. I've done the CT and MRI scans, and everyone is telling me I need surgery ASAP—from the specialists reading the imaging to Dr. Blajic in San Diego!
Since I don't want to just rely on one neurosurgeon's opinion, could you guys recommend someone else who is considered among the absolute best in the US?
EDIT: NEUROSURGEON!
I'm not sure if you've already gone under the knife, but definitely check out Dr. Paladino. He successfully operated on a friend of mine for a brain tumor, so I'd feel totally confident with him for this too.

So, basically, where in Washington, D.C. can I get a dental X-ray using a referral from Medicare? My work hours are just... well, they're pretty ridiculous—the typical 9-to-5 grind—so I really need to find a lab or clinic that offers appointments outside of those standard business hours.
Also, do you usually get the results right then and there?
Thanks so much!
I'm not 100% sure what their specific hours are, but you should be able to get it done over in the Laginjina area at the Community Health Center.
Hey everyone, I really need some advice from anyone who’s dealt with something similar to this So, here’s my situation—I started taking Yaz back in July, but then I had to go cold turkey in September because I had to have surgery. Everything seemed fine once I restarted in October, but before that break, I was dealing with some pretty intense side effects—specifically these massive headaches and dizzy spells. Honestly, looking through the threads here, it seems like almost nobody mentions dizziness from Yasmin or Yaz, which is... well, a bit unsettling. The vertigo was actually so bad that I ended up in the ER. Thankfully, all my tests came back totally normal, and the doctors suggested the pills might be the culprit behind the dizziness. But here’s the catch—I really don't want to stop taking them. First off, they’re my primary birth control, and second, since I just recently got back on them after that medical hiatus, I feel like if I quit now, I might as well just never start again—you know how it is, it feels wrong to constantly start and stop cycles like that. Plus, I’m hesitant to switch brands entirely because I worry about increasing health risks, and based on what you all have shared, Yaz seems to be the "gold standard" for most of you. If this dizziness hits me again, I’m honestly at a loss. What should I even do?
Scott Moore8 said:Please don't judge me for asking such a superficial question, but which specific pills actually caused your breasts to "grow"? Personally, I’m as flat as a board. When I was on Yaz, my bust size went up by a full cup, which, admittedly, I absolutely loved. However, Yaz also caused me to pack on five pounds, all of it concentrated as cellulite 😢. I didn't initially believe the weight gain was linked to the medication, but the moment I stopped taking it, the pounds started dropping off and the cellulite completely vanished... so, there you have it.
I'm on Yaz right now and haven't seen any growth at all. How long did it take for yours to show results?
Andrew Walker24 said:Hey ladies! Figured I’d drop my experience with the pill here, specifically Yasmin. Been on them for 3 years now, haven't even taken a break yet, and my OBGYN hasn't mentioned anything weird. Started using them mainly to deal with PCOS, but they basically became my birth control too. Honestly, zero issues otherwise—weight is steady, libido is still a solid 5/5. BUT when it comes to my skin... I never had acne before, but these freaking cystic breakouts are killing me. I seriously expected the pill to give me baby-smooth skin, but here I am, 3 years in, still praying they'll vanish. Anyone else dealing with these deep ones while on Yasmin? I just want them gone. My face is literally full of scars from trying to squeeze them out since they don't work. Thinking about hitting up my doctor to see if she can switch me to something else that actually clears things up.
If I were you, I'd try tackling the skin issue through dermatological treatments—like specialized creams or facials—rather than switching pills if the ones you're on are working well for everything else. It's hard to find a brand that hits all the right notes, you know?
It happens to me every now and then—though it’s usually when I'm feeling particularly wound up—but honestly, just getting out for a walk or doing some light stretching seems to do the trick for me.
I’ve dealt with Catherine a few times now—both back when I was on birth control and after I stopped. The last time it flared up was just a month ago, and I cleared it out pretty quickly using a three-day course of Canesten vaginal suppositories. But now? It’s back, and honestly, I feel like I'm losing my mind. Does anyone know if it's actually okay to jump right back on those suppositories so soon? I was looking at this info on prevention, but they don't mention anything about birth control. Is it possible that things are getting triggered because I've been sleeping with my boyfriend without a condom?
Karen Peterson8 said:My gynecologist told me birth control protects you from pregnancy starting on day one. However, I started taking them right at the end of my period—not the first day, just when it actually arrived. I was honestly surprised to see the instructions say to start on the first day of your cycle, yet she told me to just take them now 🤷
I wanted to ask you all something. Does taking these pills have any impact on a baby's health if you conceive immediately after stopping? I heard a story yesterday about a woman having issues with her baby; apparently, she’ll need surgery right after birth to have some kind of tube inserted behind the ear to prevent head growth (I’m not sure if I understood that correctly). Anyway, my godmother and mom concluded it must be because she took the pills inconsistently or stopped them too soon, and that it's supposedly unsafe to get pregnant for at least six months after quitting 😕 I haven't heard anything like that anywhere, nor did I see it in the instructions or hear it from my doctor. Does anyone here know anything about this?
I had to stop taking mine because I needed surgery, and the anesthesiologist required me to be off them for three weeks—so I'm assuming by then your system is pretty much cleared out, since that's definitely what they want during anesthesia. But as for whether that's enough time to safely conceive? Honestly, I wouldn't know. You really ought to ask a specialist.
casualbear17 said:Look, this might be a stupid question, and I'm sure someone else has already asked it here...🤦 ...
Yesterday, I went to take my pill and it slipped right down the kitchen sink drain. Instead of panicking, I just took the one meant for tomorrow. Now I'm stuck wondering... since I'll eventually be one pill short at the end of the pack, what’s the move? Should I just go grab a whole new pack just to replace that single missed dose? 😕
Look, I don't want to freak you out—and honestly, I can't speak for every single brand out there—but I'm on Yaz, and with my specific pack, you really have to finish the whole thing. For me, my period starts about four days after I finish that last pill, so completing the cycle is super important! I really hope you aren't on Yaz and that other brands work differently... -.-
Brandon Chavez4 said:I’ve been dealing with this issue for two months straight now... I’ve been taking Triquilar tablets for about five months. For the first three months, everything was absolutely fine 👍 but last month, when I switched from the red pills to the white ones... immediately after the very first pill, I started feeling this mild vaginal itching. But that isn't even the worst part; the real problem is that the itching just keeps getting worse every single day. It starts stinging, and then I get this discharge—kind of like clear fluid but with these little white clumps. As for having sex? Let’s just say 😢 it’s incredibly painful, and I have this constant sensation that everything is bone dry, even though it actually isn't.
Has anyone else ever dealt with something like this??? 😕 😢
Now that this is happening for the second time in a row, I’m starting to get genuinely worried... 😕 And oh! That whole ordeal lasted until I finally finished the entire pack of tablets... (it slowly started to settle down toward the end). I really don't want to go through that again... Honestly, it’s not even about the sex for me; what’s truly miserable is the constant itching and burning. And when I have to use the bathroom and wipe afterward... good grief, it stings and hurts so much!😠 👎
I'm on Yaz, and my main issue is just this feeling of being dry, even though I know I'm not. By the way, can anyone help me out with this? I couldn't find a thread specifically for this topic: I tried to be intimate with my boyfriend, and he just can't fully enter—and look, I'm not a virgin—but it hurts so much. I know I need to relax, and I *am* relaxed, plus he's being super gentle and we've tried everything under the sun, but once he goes even a little bit deep, it starts hurting me. It's nowhere near pleasurable. Plus, I get this sensation like he needs to go deeper, like it's just not enough. Could the pills be causing this? Like, could there be a connection to low libido? Generally speaking, my drive has been at zero since I started them—for example, I barely feel any pleasure during oral or whatever.🙄
shadowfox49 said:Mood swings—they’re definitely a thing. They used to absolutely wreck me (I went through six months of it and didn't even realize I was becoming "a little" mentally unstable; it just felt "normal" at the time. It wasn't until I stopped taking Loestrin that I realized what those last six months were actually like and how much I'd changed 😂). People say it takes three months to adjust... Good luck during those few months if you decide to keep taking them. I really hope you feel better soon. 😉
Regarding your period—are we talking about the withdrawal bleeding after finishing your first pack, or the bleeding you get right when you first start the pills? Spotting, or those random little bits of bleeding throughout the month, is totally possible and listed as a side effect. I had it once; it was just a lighter extension of my period (the one that started when I kicked off my first pack), lasting maybe a week. But check out the previous question and wait for someone smarter and more experienced than me to chime in.
Yeah, I mean the amount of bleeding right after finishing that first pack. I just started the second one now, so we'll see how it goes...
So, I just started taking birth control, and I’m wondering if anyone else deals with these same side effects—or if maybe something is actually wrong here? Just to give some context, these are my very first pills, and my OB-GYN prescribed them to me. I wanted to check in here first for some advice because, honestly, I don't really feel like rushing back to my doctor right away—partly because she’s private practice and it’s just a whole thing 🙂 Basically, my period lasted ten whole days!! The first day was totally normal, but then for the next nine, it was just this constant, weak flow—like every single day felt like the last one. I checked the pamphlet, and it doesn't say anything about the bleeding lasting that long?! And my libido? It is absolutely zero. Plus, I can't stop crying—my moods are all over the place, and I’ve been having these dark, heavy thoughts. The side effects list mentions "mood swings," but is it really possible for them to be *this* intense? I’m usually such an optimistic person—I haven't even had bad PMS before, maybe just a little bit sometimes...
