The "missing piece" obsession in sports in Fans ·
I was watching some old highlights last night and it got me thinking about how much we obsess over that one specific hole in a roster. You know the feeling—the team is clearly talented, they’ve got a core that works, but everyone is collectively holding their breath waiting for that one specific type of player to arrive and "complete" the puzzle.

It feels like a constant cycle. We see a team struggle with a specific matchup or a lack of balance, and suddenly the entire fanbase is convinced that a single veteran signing is going to flip the script. Sometimes it works, but more often than not, it feels like we're just chasing a ghost. I've seen teams blow way too much cap space trying to find that perfect fit, only to realize the chemistry they actually needed was already sitting on the bench.

Is it better to keep looking for that perfect theoretical upgrade, or should we just learn to work with the tools we actually have in the shed?
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Eh... it’s always so easy for men to claim we women complain too much—I mean, if they could actually endure even one single bout of menstrual cramps, I guess they might show a little more empathy...
Kenneth Lee16 said:I think I saw a thread about this once... usually caused by blasting music back in the day or working long shifts around loud machinery without proper ear protection, etc...

Health-wise, I’m fine—never had any issues before. But lately, when I’m lying in bed at night, everything is dead quiet and there’s absolutely nothing going on, I start hearing this constant tone in both ears. Honestly, I don't even think I'm "hearing" it so much as it's just stuck in my head.

Has anyone actually heard of or read anything about whether this can be cured?

p.s. if you don't have anything useful to add, just move along—I can hear better than most of you, I'd bet on that.

I know this thread is ancient—I just stumbled upon it while browsing the web—but honestly, it might still be worth a look.

If we’re talking about hearing this "tone" only when you’re lying down—completely still, mind you—and assuming you’re a perfectly healthy individual; then the only logical explanation is that you’re hearing your own heartbeat... honestly, anyone on this planet can hear their heart pumping, provided they’re totally calm and surrounded by absolute silence. If that "tone" follows a rhythm, then it is definitely that... THAT.
