Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Thanks, Roger Walker85. That’s exactly what I tried... no luck though.
A buddy suggested I head into the BIOS and toggle that setting that restricts installation to just Windows 8 or newer.
Turns out that actually exists—just in case anyone else is running into this.
Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Hey 🙂

Got a new laptop Dell Inspiron 14
Set the BIOS to boot from the CD
I've installed original Windows 7 about 4 or 5 times on my old laptops and PCs before now

But when I power this thing up, it won't boot from the disc—instead, it just pulls up some Linux distro... honestly have no idea what I'd even do with that

Where am I messing up?
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Gary Kelly9, you should probably check if you have endometriosis... pain that intense isn't exactly "normal."
It’s pretty brutal for me too—whenever the cramps hit, I have to grab Ibuprofen immediately. If I miss that window? I’m basically passing out—cold sweats, vision going black, ringing in my ears, plus vomiting and diarrhea all at once. Just lovely... but when the Tylenol kicks in, it's like magic; everything just resets and I can actually function again.
Dealing with depression in Health ·
I’m wondering how to actually go about this—who do I even talk to? I’ve got some stuff I need to work through on my own, and I definitely need professional help. So, what’s the move? Do I just ask my primary care doctor for a referral? And who am I looking for specifically—a psychiatrist, a psychologist, or a psychotherapist? I have a contact for a private specialist, but I’d really prefer to handle this through my insurance...
Fainted / Passed out in Health ·
All those searches I mentioned—they were things I was looking up back when I was ten—because I kept passing out... everything seemed normal, and the takeaway was just that "I'm hitting growth spurts" too fast.
Now I'm 26, dealing with "textbook" stress, and the fainting spells haven't left me—it usually hits on the first day of my period... I get nauseous, have to bolt to the bathroom, break out in a cold sweat, and deal with ringing in my ears, brain fog, and intense uterine cramps. Is this actually worth getting checked out, or should I just follow my doctor's advice—drink tons of fluids and sugar, take some pills, and crawl into bed?
Dietary tips for managing PCOS in Women's Health ·
brisknomad6 said:I had a tumor—well, a dermoid cyst—and just had it surgically removed 😬

I'm not sure how to handle these "regular" ones 😢

PCOS doesn't actually have anything to do with cysts, despite the name. It’s just that the follicles where eggs develop don't mature or rupture, so ovulation doesn't happen—instead, they just pile up in the ovaries, making them look polycystic on an ultrasound (like they're full of tiny bubbles)

Actually, people with insulin resistance are more prone to both PCOS and weight gain. Being overweight doesn't cause PCOS
Also, excess androgen levels lead to androgenic weight distribution (carrying it all in the abdomen)
Which is my situation, even though I'm not overweight

Lisa Barrett22 said:I think that's a diabetes medication, so there's no point in prescribing it to someone with PCOS if their blood sugar is fine.

It does make sense, though. Insulin resistance is a core driver of PCOS, and if left unmanaged, it can lead to Type 2 diabetes.

PCOS isn't curable—you just manage it—but if you don't, there's a cancer risk.

My symptoms were: excessive hair growth, moderate skin issues, hair thinning, incredibly painful periods (I used to pass out from the pain), anemia, and irregular cycles.

Treatment: three years on Yasmin; my skin cleared up, my hair got stronger, hair growth slowed down, and my weight stayed steady
Now I'm switching things up and running some tests. I've been off meds for three months and it's a nightmare. My scalp is itchy, I'm breaking out, and hair is sprouting everywhere (even in places where only guys should have it!)
Plus, I haven't had a period, and I need one before I start Diane... what a mess.
I still haven't checked my insulin levels.
I'm wondering if this has anything to do with my low blood pressure and fainting spells?
I'm planning to get pregnant once everything is sorted out.
