It’s wild, too; I’ve seen two patients who are actually pregnant somehow managing to smoke and take all these medications, which seems like a recipe for disaster. I know plenty of you have kids, but 🕺 honestly, at this point, it doesn't much matter what I think since I already aired my grievances in my previous posts.. So, are you following some specific diet plan, or just winging it?
Currently on the "trying to exercise and stop eating total garbage" diet... 🎉🎉
I don't have schizophrenia—just some other, less intense mental health stuff—but that’s not why I’m hanging out here. I’ve always been fascinated by psychology, and even though a degree isn't in the cards for me right now, I've read a ton about it. I've always had this deep urge to help people dealing with these kinds of struggles. Plus, seeing a therapist personally helped me through my own stuff, which only fueled that desire to give back.
I've been lurking in this thread for a few days now, reading every single post from the very first page to the last.
Honestly? You guys have actually changed me for the better in just a few days. I’m looking at the world differently... thinking more, being curious about more things, and being way more empathetic toward people. I find myself pausing to wonder if someone is struggling before I jump to conclusions. I'm telling you this because you all are seriously incredible, and I truly admire how well you handle everything.
I’d especially love to see good old Šiza pop up again—after reading through this, I feel like I know her, and she seems like a total gem.
If anyone ever needs to talk, I'm here—either right here in the thread or via DM. I'll try to chime in more as discussions keep moving along.

Yeah, sounds crazy to me too, but hey... everyone's wired differently, I guess. How are you holding up right now?
velvetmoose9 said:Glad you guys started a thread on one of the (too) frequently prescribed meds here in the States. Short version: the drug is great—provided it’s used for the right reasons and you don't abuse the continuity (keep it to 2-3 weeks, maybe 4 max). If you're popping 1-2 Sanvals a month, the chance of developing an addiction or resistance is tiny—basically zero. First thing though—try to kill whatever's actually causing the insomnia. Get some exercise in regularly. Sleep hygiene (going to bed and getting up at the same time)—sometimes takes 6-8 (or even more) weeks to actually see results. So, patience is key...😉 Anxiety is a huge driver for insomnia, so in those cases, short-term use of a classic anxiolytic (like Xanax, Praxiten...) might be better—combined with everything else I mentioned, obviously.
Thanks 🎉 Yeah, seems like it'll just sit on the shelf for those rare "emergency" moments, assuming it's used sparingly. As for those other methods, I agree that physical activity is huge. Unfortunately, when anxiety hits, that's harder to pull off... but I do notice I sleep way better if I spend more time outdoors, even if it's just a walk rather than a full workout.
Betty Nelson71 said:Yeah, I finally fixed my routine and I'm actually getting some sleep—mostly. Still waking up a few times throughout the night, but honestly... it beats that old habit of waking up starving and staring at an empty fridge...🤦
Betty Nelson71 said:Run from that stuff like your life depends on it. I was straight-up hallucinating—getting up in the middle of the night, wandering around like a zombie, cleaning the whole house at 3 AM... then waking up the next day with zero memory of it. After two months of taking it, I had to quit because those midnight episodes were killing me. And man, the comedown? Absolute nightmare. Four days of shakes, vomiting, and nightmares (whenever I actually managed to crash for twenty minutes)... ended up in the ER due to dehydration. It was brutal. If you absolutely have to take something to sleep, maybe look into Zan or Zonadin. Personally, I ditched it because the side effects outweighed any benefit, but Sanval is easily the worst option for insomnia.👎Try setting a routine—same wake-up and bedtime, get outside more, get some exercise... that worked for me. Honestly, they should just pull Sanval from the market.
Yeah, I’ve read about those sleepwalking incidents and everything else you mentioned... really sorry you went through all that, hope you're doing better now.😍
And I'm with you on the second part, especially the fresh air thing.
Michael Cook4 said:There’s already a thread on the forum about insomnia... if you actually took a second to scroll through instead of just jumping in, you could read what Denpa001 wrote about your Sanval and draw your own conclusions.
It wasn't "hard" to look—I'm just brand new to the forum... 🙂 Thanks for that!
Gregory Jackson3 said:Sanval doesn't cause addiction I've been riding that wave for years—obviously I manage my doses though, because if you just bulk up on it, your body builds a tolerance...
Then again, it depends on the person. Some people can't even sleep on 30 mg and just end up hallucinating, so they switch to Persen but for me, Persen is absolute garbage
Grace Cooper7 said:I don't drink it all that much—hardly ever take it two or three days in a row, so addiction isn't really an issue 🙂 But I guess it depends... how often are you actually struggling to sleep?
Aha, well that's great then. Glad you found something that actually works for you 🙂 me? I'm tossing and turning every single night... sometimes it's like 7 or 8 times in a row
Aaron Sanchez6 said:Honestly, forget Sanval or Persen—those things are just cash grabs. If you actually want some decent sleep, just grab some Elokvel or maybe a better quality sedative... take it, stop waiting around, and pass out.
Aaron Sanchez6 said:Man, neither Sanval nor Persen are worth the money—they're pricey. When I was struggling to sleep, I downed all 10 Sanval pills$17 and only got an hour and a half of shut-eye. If you get Elokvel via prescription—you pay extra, obviously--$6.75 but you take one and sleep for a solid 8 hours. Simple as that...
I got Sanval through my doctor so it didn't cost me a dime, and I was looking into Persen since it's herbal—I'm not trying to get hooked on anything. It’s weird though, because some people say Sanval does absolutely nothing for them, while others claim they were hallucinating and felt totally high off of it. What's the deal with Elokvel? Any side effects? 🥱
I’ve been struggling with sleep for ages—honestly, I check off pretty much every box on the list of reasons why people deal with insomnia. 🙂
I’ve tried everything at this point... meds, "natural" alternatives, even those energy healers. Tried Normabele, Persen, you name it.
My doctor just put me on Sanval today. It seems like people have wildly different takes on it, or maybe it's just me—all I can find online are ancient threads on some random forums.
Anyone actually used this before? Care to share how it worked for you? 🤔
