I was watching some sports highlights this morning and it got me thinking about how much mental energy players have to burn just dealing with the physical grind. It’s one thing to be sidelined, but it's another thing entirely to be in that limbo where everyone is looking at you, waiting to see if you're actually "back" or just playing through something that's going to haunt you later in the season.
I used to play semi-pro soccer back in college, and the hardest part wasn't the actual injury—it was the pressure to prove you hadn't lost your edge during the recovery period. You feel like you're constantly auditioning for your own spot on the roster. One bad step or one moment of hesitation and suddenly the coaches are looking at the next guy in line.
Do you think the pressure to return quickly actually hinders the recovery process, or is that "grind it out" mentality just a necessary part of high-level competition?
Dropped a few more pounds...😢
...hey everyone...
The grind continues...

But honestly, I eat normally like six times a day! I can't even force myself to cram more food in... yet I still lost weight...

I once ran into a friend at a specialized clinic who had lost so much weight I barely recognized her. I was sure it was hyperthyroidism, but turns out she was just dealing with depression, which caused the weight loss.
If that's what you're dealing with, you've gotta find the strength to push through.
You have a reason to fight, though—your kid. You say you don't have support, which might be true, but maybe there’s someone nearby you can lean on after all.
Looking back, most things that felt like the end of the world don't even register anymore. So, just try to pull it together, stay positive, and hang out with people who actually lift you up. A lot of people find their way through faith, and it changes everything. There are also those three-day spiritual retreats that work wonders. Wishing you the best.
Best,
Thanks
I've had my thyroid checked five times in the last year and a half... it's fine.
Saw a psychiatrist too—verdict: healthy, no depression, no anxiety, nothing.
As for those spiritual retreats, I always hear about them from vlč. Linić way too late. I'd love to go, so if anyone knows when they're happening in Cleveland, PLEASE let me know the dates and location..
🙂
Thanks, and big hugs to everyone...🙂

Fatigue and weight loss can be thyroid issues, like hyperthyroidism. I dealt with that about 10 years ago. I still deal with my thyroid, but people say it's one of the easier chronic things to manage.
Best,
The doctors checked EVERYTHING endocrine-wise... I'm basically the picture of health...
just dealing with some harmless Candida 😳, maybe... lost another 1.3 lbs yesterday.
Hey everyone.
I’m posting here because, honestly, it feels like the world is just totally upside down right now and nothing makes sense...
Even though all my medical tests say I'm physically and mentally fine (aside from some Candida, which my doctors don't think is a big deal), I’ve dropped from 175 to 120 lbs in two years. I have zero energy. Walking to the next block feels like trekking across the entire USA.
The weight keeps dropping. I eat normally—actually, I eat more than usual—except when I feel really sick and skip a meal or two out of my five daily ones. I'm just trying to pull through; I've got a little kid who needs their mom...
How do I actually put on weight? Because of the Candida, I can't touch sugar, yeast, white flour, or wheat, and I have to cut back on meat...
If I eat the "forbidden" stuff, I feel terrible. But if I stick to veggies, how am I supposed to gain anything?
Once I hit a 5-pound gain, I'm throwing a party. And once I get back to 132... man, I'll be the happiest person alive.
I'm getting zero support from anyone. They just tell me "it's all in your head," but my psychiatrist says the toxins from the Candida are wrecking my body and that my mental health is actually fine.
Sending huge hugs to you all. We can get through this together...
:O[]
Maybe try asking your doctor to run a Candida test. If that comes back positive, you should probably get your blood checked too. I had the exact same symptoms and ended up testing positive myself...
Obviously I'm worried, my potassium levels are still dropping...
Sent you a DM, hit me back when you can...
Best
Hey, imagine!
How are you holding up lately?
I’m dealing with the exact same thing, just without any other underlying issues. I saw a nephrologist and spent some time at an endocrinology clinic, and everything supposedly looks fine. The weird part is, when I'm resting, my potassium levels stay steady, but as soon as I move around or exert myself, my potassium drops every single day, even with Kalinor. I keep upping the dose on my own, mostly because last time I was in the ER my potassium hit 3.0—they actually tried to send me to a psychiatrist!🤣
The endocrinologist ruled out aldosterone being the culprit for my mental state; everything there came back normal. But looking at my 24-hour urine test, my potassium is low there too, which means my kidneys aren't even flushing it out properly!🤷
Where is the potassium even going???
My mom used to take those. Heart palpitations, racing, all that stuff... they switched her over to something else immediately.
