Let's try this approach. How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?
Do you prefer ball sports, or are you more into wrestling and striking?
Alright, moving on. If you have an interest in martial arts or combat sports, please list what you enjoy most, your current skill level, and what you find engaging about it. Keep training and enjoy the process. Collect medals, meet people, build a crew... and if those movements stay in your muscle memory, perhaps that’s even better.
Not a single martial art provides a guarantee of effectiveness in a street fight. It might just give you a false sense of confidence.
I have just one more question for you: What truly matters in life to you... I am referring to things like people, family, and such? (I picked this idea up from my friend 😁)
I am experiencing the exact same issue. I just haven't been paying much attention to it 😬. The modem restarts itself, and then after about one or two minutes, you can get back online... By the way, we are using the same modem and OS
Why? I had some firewall installed maybe a year or two ago, and I don't recall which one specifically, but it ended up killing off all my animated smileys, avatars, and images on websites... everything. That was until I spent some time digging through its settings.
Lindsey... You can adjust the text size by using Control + the mouse scroll wheel. To reset everything back to the default font size, just hit Control + 0. 😉
Edit: Which antivirus or firewall are you running? I guess those programs can sometimes interfere with animations and images...
Prile, I’m not entirely sure what I should say to you. It seems like you want to train just so you can go around breaking people up...
Everything works fine for street encounters, though I suppose it depends on how proficient you actually become at whatever it is you're training.
A friend of mine who trains BJJ once neutralized two guys right in front of his car; he just left them on the pavement until they calmed down. He didn't even have to throw a single punch. Tigar (😁) handles problems using strikes. A third friend ended up with broken teeth because he was busy playing the hero...
There was some random guy in Orlando lying in the middle of the street with a bloody head. He had hit an iron pole.
Hey Jeffrey Long, why don't you tell us what you're into? What do you actually like?
Just ignore the noise from everyone else...
I wouldn't go for Muay Thai right now. Too much striking, and that's just not my thing... Boxing is alright, I guess... but things like Jiu-Jitsu seem better because they're more about defense... Boxing feels more like learning how to attack rather than actual self-defense... so yeah, maybe Jiu-Jitsu or something like that...
Like I mentioned before, Tiger handled several people easily just using straight punches and mid-level kicks.
Since you're only 13, having any kind of training won't put you behind. If you enjoy grappling on the ground, maybe try Judo; it's relatively easy to switch gears later and learn how to strike.
It doesn't really matter if Muay Thai or boxing are primarily striking arts; you can still use them for defense. And there is one basic rule for street situations: Always stay on your feet.

As for instance, rustyangler02 effectively applied twelve years of kickboxing experience during street encounters. 😁
Lisa Bailey41 said:Hey everyone... so I'm 13 and a half, standing at 5'8" and weighing about 140 pounds... wondering which martial art would be the best fit for me. I checked out boxing, but heard it might be a bit too brutal for kids my age, so I started thinking about Jiu Jitsu? Just curious which one is actually the most effective overall... honestly, I'm looking for some striking, maybe something like Muay Thai instead of just boxing. Thanks in advance
Alright, Lisa Bailey41, why don't you tell us what you actually enjoy? What interests you specifically?
