Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I am looking for a recommendation for a solid endocrinologist, whether they take Medicare or if I should just go private, located in Washington, D.C. My diagnosis is hyperthyroidism. Thank you.

Sandra Brooks91 said:I wouldn't recommend him based on his bedside manner; he’s quite arrogant and you practically have to pull answers out of him. You end up waiting forever for the exam, and in the end, he didn't help me at all... since my Electroencephalogram came back normal. Perhaps he's so used to extreme cases that slightly altered EEGs aren't worth his time or effort..

😕 I honestly never had that impression... I certainly wouldn't consider myself an extreme case. It is true that the wait times are significant, but I've heard nothing but praise from several other people. Even my husband, when circumstances led him to neurology, proved to be a true doctor. If I may ask, what was the reason for your consultation with him? I only ask because you mentioned a normal Electroencephalogram..

I am in urgent need of a recommendation for a solid neurologist in NYC.

Thanks!

I would suggest Dr. Hećimović, a specialist neurologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I have personally been seeing him for years to manage my epilepsy. Before finding him through a referral, I spent quite some time bouncing between different doctors without much luck, but I can say I am very satisfied with his care. He is a genuinely pleasant man and an exceptional physician who possesses a broad understanding of other medical fields as well. You can ask him anything, and he takes the time to explain things clearly. Furthermore, if he feels you need a consultation with another specialist, he is more than happy to provide a recommendation. He is incredibly thorough. I truly hope you find him helpful, as he was a lifesaver for me. :-) Best of luck.
Quick help needed—I'm freaking out! in Health ·
Lawrence Bishop34 said:I can feel something irritating my tonsil. I decided to take a look, and turns out a tiny bit of food actually got stuck right in there 😲 Is that even possible???? I mean, sure, it happened, but it’s just hard to believe. My tonsils are always enlarged, but I don't have any issues with them right now—no sore throat, nothing. How did this even happen!? I am genuinely freaked out!!! 😢 Has this ever happened to any of you? Should I be worried? Oh my god, I am literally shaking 😢

Don't worry, you aren't going to hurt yourself. When you move your jaw, your tonsils shift around too, which is likely how that little morsel ended up stuck in there. 😉
