Do you think it's worth setting up a dual boot with a 32-bit version of Windows 7? Like, would there be any issues since my processor has a 64-bit architecture?

Hi everyone.

About two weeks ago, I picked up a new Dell Inspiron 15:

4 GB DDR3L RAM
1.7 GHz Intel Core i3-4005, dual core 64-bit
Intel HD Graphics 4400
1 TB Toshiba HDD
OS: Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit

I'm not really a hardcore gamer or anything, so I know I can't run the latest AAA titles, but I didn't expect games from 10 or 12 years ago to be such a struggle. They just seem to skip, lag, or stutter constantly. It feels like there's a bottleneck every few seconds, especially during any kind of action—like clicking the mouse, moving the camera in strategy games, or whenever there are light effects. It's pretty weird because my old laptop from over a decade ago actually ran some of these much smoother than this current one. Specifically, I'm talking about these games:

Titan Quest
Age of Empires III
Age of Mythology
Rise of Nations
Desperados 2
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Dungeon Siege 2
Commandos 2: Men of Courage

I tried setting them to XP compatibility mode and installed all the patches, but they work fine on other devices using the same OS (Windows 7 Professional 64-bit), so I don't think it's an issue with Windows 7 itself.

I guess these games are just really dated now. Interestingly, newer games—well, relatively recent ones from a few years back—run perfectly fine. For example, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, FIFA 16, Sid Meier's Civilization V, and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon all work normally.

Maybe someone with experience could help me understand why this is happening? I'm guessing it might be something with the graphics or the processor, but I'd love to be proven wrong since my much older, weaker machine handled these classics without any issues.

They’re working on another one of those "historical" dramas based on a fairy tale or legend again.
Robin Hood is supposed to be a cheerful guy, so the movie really needs to have that kind of vibe.
Robin Hood has a mustache.
Robin Hood has a little mustache!
And Robin Hood wears a hood (that's why he's called Robin Hood) with a feather in it.
I should mention, it really shouldn't be a brutal movie, because if it is, then it isn't actually Robin Hood. It would just be using the name to grab attention, which feels a bit cheap since they're basically just making things up as they go.
I think I've mentioned "Robin Hood" in this post more than ten times already, but I don't really feel like counting.
Maybe they'll make a sequel called Robin Hood vs. Dork Knight set in the 22nd century where they fight a Superman who can't fly, just because that's more "realistic."
Or maybe tomorrow we'll see a headline with a picture of Superman saying "Passed away at age 76."
Russell Crowe looks pretty depressed, so I guess he doesn't really have a chance at being a good Robin Hood.
I bet Robin Hood will end up dying at the end of the movie, just to keep things realistic.
I'd bet money that Robin Hood won't be splitting arrows in half in this version.

I guess I'm just not normal.

Oh, and I should probably mention James Woods somewhere too.

I guess I just meant "dumb" movies. I was kind of trying to say they're cult classics, really. I actually love them. More than Jackie Brown, for instance (though I regret buying that crap on the original DVD)👎

As for Terminator, I pretty much know it by heart. Especially the first one. And both Superman movies too!😍

I guess Quentin Tarantino just makes boring movies. He tries to act like his stuff is high art, but I don't think it really is.

Does anyone actually know what art is?

To me, art is those cliché movies that just grab you and won't let go until the credits roll. That's real talent, I suppose.

And who cares about Rocky? Rocky is a masterpiece. If they still made movies like Rocky today, maybe I'd actually head to the theater once in a while.

Maybe simple movies like Superman, Batman, Conan the Barbarian, Terminator, Deadly Weapon, Rambo, Die Hard, Predator and all those Arnold Schwarzenegger (and similar) action flicks will draw more people in. They tend to get watched over and over again by the same fans.

I mean, the proof is right there in how many remakes or sequels they make of the popular titles you were just trashing. It seems like that's the only reason the film industry stays afloat.

A movie probably needs a great atmosphere to be successful. Without that, it just doesn't work. I can't even remember an anthology title from the last decade that stuck (maybe LOTR? though everyone's forgotten that too). Also, you need a good plot, humor, and actors with CHARISMA! Charisma is everything! Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and those other fighters (who are probably grandpas now) might not be the best actors when it comes to serious scenes, but they have way more charisma than someone like Robert De Niro, Brad Pitt, or Kevin Spacey. That's where the magic happens.

One last thing I always say—a movie is just a movie. You should probably just relax and stop nitpicking every little detail. And if you're looking for deep life lessons in cinema, maybe try finding them in real life instead.
