REVIEW
I caught this film at the AMC theater this week, and I found it quite exceptional...
It delves deeper into the Stark family history while simultaneously expanding the scope of S.H.I.E.L.D.... The sequence where Ivan Vanko constructs his Whiplash weaponry and suit was masterfully executed. There was also a striking scene set along the tracks in Monte Carlo. Furthermore, the moment Natasha Romanoff engages the guards was simply superb. It was quite refreshing to see so many comic book characters integrated into the narrative, and the three new suits were impressive—particularly the Mark V 😁. Mickey Rourke’s portrayal of Ivan Vanko, the former convict and physicist, was nothing short of brilliant; he brought such presence with that heavy accent, the tattoos, and that biting sarcasm. He isn't merely a thief like Justin Hammer was in the first installment; he is a man who actually engineered his own reactor and suit. Truly captivating. Scarlett Johansson remains excellent as Natasha Romanoff, providing a wonderful 😍 addition to the franchise. I also found it amusing that Happy Hogan received more screen time; it seems he managed to carve out a larger role for himself, if you will 🙂.
If I were to find fault, it would be that Vanko's defeat felt somewhat rushed toward the end, and Natasha Romanoff's presence as Black Widow felt slightly limited...
I am hopeful that Black Widow will return in the Avengers films and perhaps in Iron Man 3, hopefully with more significant development. This film certainly helped clarify the timeline leading up to the Avengers...
In my estimation, the chronology flows as follows:
Captain America - WWII
Iron Man
Iron Man 2 & The Incredible Hulk - occurring roughly six months after Iron Man, though I suspect Hulk concludes slightly later given that by the end, Stark is already acting as an advisor to S.H.I.E.L.D.
Simply a magnificent film; well worth one's time...
Rating: 4.95/5 👍

Hulk2... those last few minutes of the movie.
What exactly do you mean by that? I would appreciate a bit more clarification, if you wouldn't mind. 🙂

It didn't quite click for me why they would include a "still" from the film, or why they'd bother posting a shot from such a brief moment at the very end of a movie.
I guess that makes me wonder, though, if we'll even see a third Iron Man installment—I mean, I know they signed three-picture deals right from the jump—but would that also have to come out in 2012 if they're following that same timeline gap between the first two?
Thanks for clearing that up. 🙂
Iron Man 3 will most likely happen, simply due to the massive success of the first two films and, as you noted, the fact that they were already contracted for a trilogy.
The underlying connection here is that all of these films—namely Iron Man, Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America—serve merely as introductions leading toward the collective cinematic event, The Avengers (2012).
I assume this was posted within this specific thread because there was no real necessity to initiate an entirely new discussion just to share a single image.
Furthermore, by the conclusion of Iron Man 2, they had already located Thor's hammer, Mjolnir...

And, if I recall correctly, it was during the events of Iron Man 2 that they first uncovered Thor's hammer, Mjolnir.

Now, something isn't sitting right with me—was Rhodey already training in that silver suit before this? It feels a bit silly that he manages to fix the Iron Man tech so effortlessly right out of the gate—I mean, sure, he was drunk, but still—and then flies around without any struggle or adjustment period. If I recall correctly, there was a line about how every suit has built-in protections that only the specific user can access. So, does that mean Rhodey had been wearing the silver one already? Was that something Tony custom-built specifically for him?
Also, that scene in Monte Carlo felt a little naive—you know, he's swinging this thing around everywhere, and it takes more than five minutes for the police to even show up. One shot and it's over. But instead, everyone just stands there gawking. It felt pretty ridiculous to me—though, as a standalone action sequence, it was fine. A few cops should have at least shown up to get caught in the crossfire.
Oh, and honestly? I wish Tony had just handled everything himself. He doesn't need a sidekick—he certainly doesn't need anyone's help. ☕
My impression is that we're looking at the Mark II suit; I don't believe Tony developed that one for Rhodey. At least, that is my understanding...🙂

The ending lacked a bit of imagination for me; I guess I expected something more impactful regarding Vanka's death, but it felt like he was taken out way too quickly, almost in an instant.
Ocjena: 6.8/10
I haven't seen this part yet; was that shown during the post-credits scene?
That’s after the credits, if I recall correctly...
We shall see how things unfold. I realize this is somewhat tangential to the film itself, but I was wondering if anyone here happened to pick up a copy of AC/DC: Iron Man 2?
How is the quality? Is it worth the investment?...
First, I should mention that I have been a massive Iron Man enthusiast since I was quite young. Generally speaking, I am a fan of the entire Marvel cinematic lineup. I have watched everything except for the Blade trilogy and Man-Thing. My collection at home is quite extensive on DVD; my absolute favorites remain Iron Man and X-Men.
I have revisited the first Iron Man film numerous times, and in my estimation, it stands as one of the superior entries in the franchise. While I haven't sat down to watch Iron Man 2 just yet, I have spent a considerable amount of time studying the trailers, looking at stills—I currently have Whiplash set as my desktop wallpaper 😁—and reading every bit of news available. From what I can gather, the film looks exceptional, primarily due to the caliber of the cast (though I suspect you all know the lineup by heart already, haha). To put it simply, even without having seen it, I am convinced the film is excellent.

AVENGERS
I thought it might be useful to consolidate everything we have learned thus far. Specifically:
- Iron Man 1 - We see Captain America's shield resting on a table in Tony's workshop. You can view the clip here to verify: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIVeuYqjMlk
- Iron Man 1 - At the very end, following the credits, Nick Fury visits Tony at his residence and invites him to join the "Avengers."
- The Incredible Hulk - In a deleted opening scene where Bruce heads to the Arctic to hunt, we see Captain America's body and his shield encased within the shattering ice. Here is the footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBKlH...eature=related
- The Incredible Hulk - During the film, General Ross mentions to Emil Blonsky that there was a super-soldier program during World War II. That is presumably how Captain America came to be.
- The Incredible Hulk - At the conclusion of the film, Tony informs General Ross that the "team" is coming together.
- Iron Man 2 - Tony uses Captain America's shield as a makeshift support for something he is working on.
- Iron Man 2 - At the end of the movie, Agent Coulson reports to Nick Fury that they have located Thor's hammer, Mjolnir.
1. How do you imagine they will bridge the gap between high-tech worlds like Iron Man's, the raw power of the Hulk, the mythology of Thor, and the rest?
2. Is it possible we might see appearances from Spider-Man or perhaps characters from the X-Men?
3. Furthermore, how is it that Captain America's shield ended up with Tony? Shouldn't the Captain still have it in his possession?
If I have misremembered any details or if anyone has additional insights to offer, please feel free to share them. 🙂
nimblemarlin6 said:There’s a little extra scene tucked away at the very end of the credits. Honestly, in my opinion, it’s hardly worth sitting through—it lasts maybe sixty seconds, but you have to endure the entire credit roll first, which drags on for at least five songs from the soundtrack. It feels incredibly long.
To save everyone the trouble of hunting for it, here’s the breakdown:
SPOILER
We see the desert outside of New York City. A car is driving through the wasteland, then it pulls over. A man in a suit steps out. This guy works for S L Jackson—he pops up for about three minutes during the actual movie—and he is completely irrelevant to the main plot.
During the film, he tells Stark that he’s been reassigned to New York City.
The guy climbs up onto a small ridge, maybe 50 feet high. He looks down, and about 500 feet away in a little valley, there’s this circular crater, roughly 150 feet across.
There are about ten workers standing around the edge of the crater.
The guy pulls out his phone and makes a call. He says: "Sir... we found him!"
The camera starts zooming out from him toward the crater, and for a split second, you catch a glimpse of some solid, probably metallic object sitting in the middle of that hole. I couldn't quite tell what it was since they didn't show it clearly, but it looked a bit like Thor's hammer to me. Or perhaps just some piece of machinery.
That’s Thor’s hammer—Mjolnir, if I recall correctly...
feralorca82 said:That’s really just setting the stage for Ultimate Avengers.
At the end of Iron Man, S.H.I.E.L.D. brings Stark into the fold. Then in the Hulk intro, you see Captain America's shield under the ice (since he went MIA in WWII), and by the end of Hulk, Stark is trying to recruit Banner for the Avengers, which Cap is supposed to lead. 😉
Obviously, they're missing a few people, like Thor, who's currently in the works—can't wait. 😈
You mention seeing the shield in the Hulk intro. In which specific part does that occur? Because I recall seeing it in Iron Man as well, and even in parts of the second film...
