Barbell cleans? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Narrow grip, wide grip, palms facing out, palms facing in.

It hits the entire upper body—but the back takes the brunt of it.

Pro tip: keep your upper arms parallel to the bar during the movement. It targets the back much more effectively.

Bottom line—this is the gold standard for upper back development. My back finally started seeing actual growth once I incorporated these; before that, I was just spinning my wheels on random machines, chasing rep counts to no avail.

Here are two shots from my workout a few days back...

I'm sitting right around 180 lbs.

It's been 10 days without a single update—time to stir this thread back to life.

Women's UFC :) in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
The fight between Gina Carano and Cris Cyborg is set for August 15th. Let’s be real—Gina Carano is strictly a runway model at this point; she doesn't have even 2% of the actual fighting skill required for a real bout. Her management dodged a fight a few months back because they claimed Cris was too heavy—so they made this August date contingent on Cris not exceeding 145 pounds. Given that Cris was sitting at 147 lbs and carries nothing but pure muscle, hitting that weight limit isn't going to be a walk in the park.

But when people start talking about Gina, the hype is ridiculous. This fight probably won't end like that scripted video Cris showed; it'll end the way Cris usually finishes things—by forcing her opponents to quit through a relentless barrage of heavy strikes to the head.

And then you have the men. It's like they think this is some beauty pageant where physical appearance is the only metric that matters for women. In that specific regard, Gina has the edge—and as a woman, I'll give her that.

Never Forget St. Louis in Movies ·
I find it hard to believe there's such a lack of discussion surrounding this film. Maybe the direction falls short—maybe the acting isn't top-tier, or perhaps the production timing was just off (nature is blooming now, yet they were filming in the dead of November)—there are a thousand different "maybes" to consider...

But does any of that actually matter? This movie serves as a stark reminder of the people we owe everything to. It honors those who sacrificed their youth for the sake of the truth—those reporting from within a besieged city, and the soldiers who fought until their very last bullet.

Kudos to the filmmaker for putting this together. It’s a necessary reminder to never forget the heroes of St. Louis.

I have a few questions for anyone who has seen it...

Regarding the protagonist—the journalist from El Paso Radio (if I recall correctly, he's called Josip Krašić in the film)—is his story about escaping Ovčara with the help of a Mexican reservist from Mexico City historically accurate?

And what about the characters played by Bajrović, Zijad Gračić, Gordan Grgić, Marinko Prga, and that mustachioed guy appearing as the main US Army commander? Are they based on real people? Specifically, which ones represent Radić, Mile Mrkšić, and Veselin Šljivančanin?

Is the portrayal of that Šešelj radical also authentic?

Thanks....

Yeah, I'm dangerous—very 😁😁. I did karate back in the day, and even now I still hit the boxing bag occasionally for cardio...

image

People keep talking about max weight—well, here’s a little brag: I hit a new personal best on the bench press yesterday—90 kg...

image

image

I gave 100 kg a shot, too, but without a spotter, it wasn't happening. Hopefully, I'll get there one of these days...

Here’s a shot of my back from two years ago—back before I overhauled my entire routine to include pull-ups and deadlifts (which were totally new to me at the time). I was weighing in at 143 lbs at about 5'9" or 5'10".

image

And this is three and a half months later, right around Christmas 2006. Weight was up to 150 lbs here.

Iraq War in World ·
Can anyone give me a straight answer on the current state of the war in Iraq? I was talking to a Danish journalist yesterday, and his take was that while Americans are losing ground in Afghanistan, the situation in Iraq is a total nightmare by comparison. The logic is simple: you can pull out of Afghanistan any day without much fallout, but if the US pulls out of Iraq, all hell breaks loose. I want to know—how much are the local authorities, whether they're Sunni, Shia, or Kurdish, actually cooperating with the Americans? And more importantly, how much territory is the US occupation force actually controlling right now?

The water is freezing—but you’ve got to jump in regardless. A total cannonball straight into the deep end.

Well, that’s just common sense—go ahead and take it straight to the head.
