It honestly feels like a bad idea to mess with any of the user settings if you actually want this Reddit to run smoothly. For example, if you switch the start of the week to Monday instead of Sunday, everything just crawls to a halt.
I’ve been dealing with terrible lag ever since I started tinkering with those settings myself. It finally sped up to about half its normal speed once I reverted everything back to the defaults, but even then, it still feels sluggish.
I ended up opening a fresh profile—it looks like there might be some BB code restrictions on it—but man, that one flies! It’s night and day compared to this account.

Every time I try to open this forum, the load time drags on for over 60 seconds! It’s honestly brutal. Half the time, I’m just staring at a loading screen before getting hit with a timeout error, an "overloaded" message, or—my personal favorite—it just kicks me straight back to the homepage without warning. Anyone else dealing with this madness?

It’s happened to me too! Sometimes when I go to log out, instead of seeing the standard logout screen, I get redirected straight to one of the moderators' profiles—usually the one managed by z_k. It is honestly so bizarre!

It’s the exact same story whether you’re dealing with Windows, Linux, or Android—it doesn't matter which OS you prefer. And honestly? It makes zero difference which carrier you use either, whether it's AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile. It's happening across the board!

It looks like we need to set the week to start on Sunday instead of Monday in the settings. I bet that would give the forum a little bit of a speed boost! Even so, things are still feeling pretty sluggish on my end.

Man, I am right there with you! I’ve been dealing with this exact same headache for a solid week now. It is driving me absolutely crazy!
My PC is lagging, and I have no idea why in IT Support ·
I honestly think you just need to get those graphics drivers installed!
Without them, you aren't getting any hardware acceleration at all. You're basically stuck running on those basic Microsoft generic drivers, and trust me, even if you had the most powerful NVIDIA card on the planet, it would barely be able to render a single frame properly without the right software!
Why am I getting blocked from so many websites? in IT Support ·
Megan Morris70 said:...honestly, I don't even know which subforum this belongs in because I am such a tech illiterate—not that I'm looking for answers, just bragging about my lack of skills! 🤦.

So, for some reason that makes absolutely zero sense to me, I can't access any of those free image hosting sites on my home computer anymore. I used to use them all the time to upload pictures for the forums! Now, whenever I try to go to a site, it tells me the connection isn't secure, but it won't even give me the option to "proceed anyway" or bypass the warning. It's totally blocked me out. I have no clue if I accidentally toggled some weird setting or what... anyone have any bright ideas?

SSD vs. HDD: What's the actual difference? in IT Support ·
Sam Peterson6 said:So, I’ve got this aging laptop running an old 140 GB hard drive, and honestly? It’s starting to act up—let's just say it's being a bit of a pain in the neck. I’m looking to swap it out for something new. A buddy of mine was telling me I should definitely grab an SSD instead of sticking with those standard old-school drives because they're supposedly way better. Can anyone break down what the actual perks are? Like, how much of a difference am I actually going to feel in my day-to-day workflow compared to my clunky old hard drive?

If you're looking for speed and silence, an SSD is absolutely the way to go. I'd personally recommend checking out SanDisk.
But, if you care way more about storage space than raw speed, a traditional hard drive is definitely going to give you a much better bang for your buck in terms of price per gigabyte.
