It strikes me that LA Atlético used to rely on red as their primary color, but I find this current look with white as the base much more appealing; it feels significantly more balanced and cohesive to my eye ☕
I’ve been spending quite a bit of time lately contemplating how absolutely striking those vintage Nike jerseys look when you consider all the different colorway combinations available. Whether you're looking at them through the lens of cricket, classic polo styles, rugged rugby gear, or standard football kits... there is just something about that old-school aesthetic that feels so right 😉
Personally, my absolute favorite kit belongs to LAFC—it’s from that final season we spent playing in the second division, specifically the away winter version 😉 Red Bull. The fabric is just incredible; it’s lightweight, soft, and honestly, I think the design is quite sophisticated for a club based in a city like San Diego, especially considering they struggle to secure any decent major sponsors 😁
If the league officials actually promised to bring back those jerseys once the team gets relegated from the MLS, I’d personally vote to have them banned from the league by executive decree immediately 😁 They aren't worth much anyway 🙂
The Žabarski collection is an absolute disaster; it’s nothing more than some trendy nonsense that only fashionistas in New York City would ever think to wear 🤦 😁 It seems they put these pieces on without having the slightest clue about what they actually represent, as long as George is there on the label to give it some prestige 🤣
Does anyone have any inkling as to what those ridiculous watermark patterns on the front are supposed to be? Is it meant to be some kind of leaf, or perhaps an African tribal elder yawning, or what on earth is this supposed to represent? 🤷 Good grief, what an eyesore of a jersey 🤦

Take their rivals, for instance. For years, Celtic always had the better kits, but then look at this:
It’s like our own situation here in the States—you get stuck with a specific template and zero room to play around because you have to stick to certain colors or patterns, like some patriotic stripes or whatever. And yet, they still managed to mess it up. Man, if they had just tried adding some Celtic knotwork, or even better, a subtle tartan pattern like they did on the away shorts—something you could only really spot up close, kind of like a hidden texture. Instead, they slapped on this "discount carpet store" design inside the green stripes. I don't know what possessed Nike all of a sudden, but this... look, it isn't an ugly kit, not by a long shot. But sitting here late at night, I've actually come up with two ideas of my own. If they gave me one day, I’m pretty sure I could design something way better. They’ve got eight whole months to work on a kit and this is what they come up with? It’s gotta be better than this.
That kit is just incredible—it looks more like a classic polo shirt, which I absolutely love because it captures that pure, old-school essence we crave, rather than all that flashy, space-age garbage they've been trying to shove down our throats lately.

300 😬 So, I was sitting there thinking about it, and honestly, it feels like we're looking at a flat 500 bucks, but you have to account for the inevitable corruption baked right into the price. It’s just one of those things, isn't it? You see it everywhere in this country, that little extra "fee" that nobody talks about but everyone understands. It reminds me of a situation I dealt with years ago back in Chicago when I was trying to get a simple permit sorted out—everything seemed straightforward on paper, but once you realize how much is being skimmed off the top by various hands, the math just changes completely. It’s quite a cynical way to look at things, I suppose, but when you factor in the grease required to make the wheels turn, that 500 is really more of an estimate than a fixed number. 🤣
There is just something about those blue numbers set against a red background that remains, in my estimation, the absolute pinnacle of design 😬 I find myself wondering if there is something fundamentally flawed in my own reasoning, because my logic keeps telling me that if our numbers were a different color, they would harmonize with this jersey at least ten times better and be roughly twenty times more visible 🤷
In my estimation, nothing quite compares to those kits we wore back during Euro 96, specifically the ones featuring that subtle checkerboard pattern running down the sleeves. They possessed such a certain grace—not garish or over-the-top, yet still instantly recognizable to any true fan...
Those red and white squares have essentially transformed into a massive commercial brand, and I am fully aware that there is a push to market them aggressively. However, in my humble opinion, they will never look quite as elegant as they did in that more understated design. I’ve always considered myself a bit of a minimalist 🤣 though perhaps not to the extreme extent of someone who would actually choose a black, blue, and white color scheme for our training gear; Smith certainly outdoes me when it comes to pure minimalism 😁 😁
Peter Reed70 said:So what specifically is bugging you about it?
It isn't anything specific, really; I just find it quite unsightly. 😁 It brings back far too many memories of the 90s, an era where there seemed to be endless, rather bizarre experiments involving those types of patterns, and honestly, seeing those particular designs on the sleeves feels like a direct throwback to that decade. 🤷
Regarding the American national team jersey, I generally have a distaste for the versions that feature the checkerboard pattern across the entire shirt because the numbers end up looking absolutely terrible; that "patch" or "blotch" effect on the back just ruins the aesthetic for me, and frankly, it looks quite garish. That is why I tend to prefer kit options that incorporate the checkers without covering the whole garment, especially in cases where following FIFA regulations makes the numbering look like nothing at all...
However, since we are so iconic with those squares—having essentially built a globally recognized brand out of them—we are certainly obligated to push them forward, which means I don't see much room for compromise here; we are unfortunately just stuck with these visually awkward jerseys whenever they need to put a number on them.
Manchester United's home kit—well, it’s fine, really. It’s a classic look, quite handsome if you ask me. But that away kit? Honestly, it feels like a total trip back to the 90's 🤦

But this generalization is what kills me. Like, everyone moving from the soccer forum over to politics is just here to cause trouble? 🤣 Get real. The only ones actually trying to stir the pot (🤣) and doing it just to mess around are the ones who were already unfairly banned. And you're sitting here telling me we've been plotting some conspiracy for two weeks and prepping for a showdown 🙄
Everyone seems to be caught up in the same speculation, doesn't it? 😂 I suppose that's just how things go when the internet is the only world you have left to live in.
Brian Edwards6 said:You aren't entirely wrong; the chaos at the stadium was essentially a revolt against big capital and the seizure of public space, which feels almost as absurdly similar to those protests in Warsaw. It’s almost comical.🤣
Kudos to the moderators for all the hard work.👍
I find myself wondering, though, what any of this actually has to do with you personally? Have you been wronged, slapped with a warning, or handed a ban, or are you just acting like your typical small-town cop, sticking your nose into matters that simply don't concern you? Does your commentary actually address the grievances being aired by folks in this thread, or are you merely seizing a moment to be cynical?
We aren't Vitomir Bijelić, so we aren't going to give you a pat on the back just because you know how to navigate an internet forum, so perhaps it would be best to just move along.
Let them go, Giza, there is no need to get so worked up. They claim Warsaw can’t be compared to Maksimir, but honestly, let them have their delusions. It doesn't bother me one bit. When they finally run out of bread crusts and head out to those protests, you and I will just sit back, grab a cold beer like civilized people and true fans, staying well clear of the fray. We'll just enjoy the show while pointing fingers at Adler, Adam Collins4, and the rest of them, shouting to the crowd, "Get him, he's the one standing against Jace!" ☕
And then, we shall open a dedicated thread to express our full support for Karamarko, who was such a poor soul, being threatened by those bare-handed protesters while he sat a mile away in his office, watching the whole thing unfold on television in a manner quite reminiscent of our dear Tactum. Who knows, perhaps Tactum will eventually become a moderator on this forum, but by then, you and I will likely be nothing more than high-ranking state secretaries. 🤷
Ryan Vaughn7 said:Action, reaction... who started it first... blah blah blah... we already read 150 pages of that nonsense during the riots at the stadium. There was absolutely no need to read it all over again in Warsaw. To make a long story short, I was the one who initiated this, and it ended exactly how it should have. It’s just part of my job as a moderator, as Taylor Gonzalez79 so eloquently put it. This thread is finally in a good place now.
I suppose there isn't any other perspective to consider besides yours, is there? This whole thread is just pure madness.
If I post a single sentence that doesn't offend anyone, I somehow end up with a strike against my account. Fine, I suppose I’ll just accept that fate. But it makes me wonder, how many strikes are you actually planning to hand out on that thread if you intend to penalize everyone for every little sentence they write?! And just how many of these penalties are you going to issue for individual lines tucked away inside a single post?! I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
