Mouse settings in CATIA in Software ·
Jonathan Morris40 said:That’s exactly how it should work, and I certainly understand the logic behind it, yet for some reason, it simply refuses to cooperate on my end. It is quite obviously a hardware issue with my mouse, or perhaps I have somehow botched the settings within CATIA itself.

Even though I am well aware that CATIA should be configured this way by default.

EDIT:

wiredlynx33, thank you ever so much, it actually works! 👍👍 I owe you a drink!

Don't mention it, 🙂

See? Everything seems to have a solution eventually, haha...
Though I don't touch alcohol—especially not beer—so a soda would suffice. 😉

Jonathan Morris40 said:Don't tell me there isn't a single soul here who actually knows their way around CATIA? I need to get this setup running as soon as possible, because frankly, trying to draw anything right now is an absolute nightmare.

I posted an answer last night, but God knows where it vanished to—everything seems to be going haywire lately.
Anyway, I ran into that exact same headache with my MX 400, and I managed to sort it out by diving into the mouse settings; don't bother looking in the Control Panel, but rather go straight into the Logitech software, and try setting the wheel to GENERIC BUTTON—that was the magic fix for me. So, there you have it... give it a shot, and if it doesn't work, well, if you've already tried that, then damn it, I'm honestly at a loss as to what else could be happening. ☕

Jonathan Morris40 said:So, I find myself facing a rather irritating little predicament.

I am currently working in CATIA V5 R16—attempting to model my house to scale and various other projects—but for some reason, my mouse buttons aren't mapped for zooming or panning. I distinctly recall having everything configured perfectly back when I was using R13, yet now I am forced to manually click through the interface just to rotate, zoom, or pan my models. It is incredibly tedious, whereas before, I could handle everything seamlessly with the mouse, which made the workflow significantly more efficient.

I have combed through every setting and toggled every option available, yet I cannot find where this adjustment is supposed to happen.

If anyone happens to be kind enough to shed some light on this, I would be immensely grateful. 🙂

I ran into a similar headache after picking up a new mouse; it turns out I had to fix the configuration within the mouse's own software settings rather than looking inside the program itself!
How to color 3D objects in AutoCAD 2007 in Software ·
Hmm... you’re running into trouble because you’re approaching this like a standard 2D drafting job; if you stick to those old-school line-work habits, you simply won't be able to apply any color or shading. To actually get any coloring done, you really have to start utilizing the specific tools designed for 3D modeling...
I can't say for certain how things are laid out in AC 07 since I haven't spent much time in it—I've been working primarily in the 08 version lately—though I did spend some time using AutoCAD back in the day. Honestly, just go ahead and install the 08 version; I might actually be able to help you then, and frankly, I don't suspect there's a massive gulf between 07 and 08 anyway, but if you plan on sticking with this software, it would be wise to stay current so you aren't constantly playing catch-up... Cheers, and I hope I've been at least slightly useful.

Look, Mirko, if anything exists at all, you might stumble upon it on some torrent site, though I highly doubt you’ll find any TUTse tutorials localized in American English. If you're planning on actually making a living using CAD, being fluent in English is a massive advantage. In fact, regardless of what path you take, I’d suggest leaning heavily into your English skills; it’s an invaluable asset in this field, or rather, its value depends entirely on how much skin you have in the game and how serious you intend to be about your career... anyway, it’s a mixed bag, all things considered.

Heh, you certainly have a way with words, especially considering we're talking about a tram stop! 👍
By the way, where are you currently working, and are you actually finding any satisfaction in your career? Please forgive my bluntness, I truly don't mean to pry, but I find myself genuinely curious... 🙄

Heh, those guys are certainly quick on the draw... anyway, which version of CAD are you actually running?

If you're hunting through torrent sites to grab a copy of CAD, just make sure you download the 2008 version; the 2009 release is nothing but a headache and causes all sorts of trouble!

To be perfectly honest, in all my years tinkering around with CAD, I have never once found a reason to touch that icon... I simply fail to see any practical utility in it, at least not for the kind of projects I’ve been saddled with up until now! 😕 !!!! 😁

Look, you’re absolutely right—this software is far too important to be struggling with, so if you could just clarify things for me, I might actually be able to lend a hand. Are you working within the 3D environment of AutoCAD, or are you strictly sticking to 2D? What exactly is the snag you've hit, or where did the whole process grind to a halt? If you could provide a few more details, hehe... perhaps I can help you navigate out of this mess.
