I can't sleep! Help! in Health ·
Susan Myers41 said:Hey everyone, I need some help—I'm struggling with sleep. Too often lately, I’m just lying there wide awake for an hour and a half. Is this some kind of fallout from life's recent setbacks, or is it just one of those things you can't control? Honestly, I haven't been feeling great—I'm jittery and a bit on edge—so I don't know if my mood is driving the insomnia.
Does anyone actually have an answer for this?😢

Honestly, it doesn't sound like a catastrophe. I went through a stretch where I was running on maybe three hours of sleep a night and functioning perfectly fine. I saw my doctor and they put me on 1.5mg of Xanax—mind you, I was under massive stress at the time, and I've always been someone who needs less sleep than most. It's highly individual—unless it's totally wrecking your job or your social life, don't overthink it. I did read somewhere, though, that if you fall asleep but then snap awake after an hour and can't get back down, that's a much bigger red flag linked to chronic depression. As far as medication goes? In my opinion, taking a Xanax or Ativan is better than staring at the ceiling all night or being a total wreck the next day. Any decent American doctor will tell you the same thing.

It isn't constant pain, really... just whenever I move things around. It gets a bit awkward because my hair is long, so if it pulls near my nostril, it stings. Honestly, it feels like it hasn't even healed yet, despite the surgery being over a year and a half ago...
I don't know. Maybe he hit a nerve or something... we'll see...😕 🙄

Best, 🙏

I dealt with this exact same mess—my lymph nodes started swelling up right after I got my ears pierced. It was a total nightmare. I ended up having to chug a full course of antibiotics just to get things under control. While I was healing, I was slathering Geokorton on my ears constantly. In the beginning, I was being super meticulous—cleaning the earrings with alcohol first, then dipping the posts in Geokorton before sliding them back in. Just one of those things that turns into a massive headache.

I’ve been right there in the trenches myself, so I wanted to create a space where those of us who have lived through this can offer actual advice and real support to one another.

Post here. At the very least, I will always be here to reply, offer some perspective, or just sit with you while things are falling apart—because sometimes being a bystander to the struggle is even harder than fighting the disease itself.

I’ve personally walked through hell, and honestly, I’m still walking through it. No one should ever have to face this alone.

Big hugs to everyone.

I stumbled onto this thread by accident. My dad passed away from pancreatic cancer last year. It was pure hell.
I just wanted to mention that if you need psychological help, you can reach out to a hospice center—specifically the ones in major cities like Chicago or New York. That doesn't mean you or your loved ones are "done," but they do have psychologists on staff. They helped us immensely—so much so that I’m actually thinking about volunteering with them. It blows my mind that patients and their families are often left to fend for themselves against cancer; thank God for the internet. Sending good vibes to you all!
