I’ve been reading through all these comments and I honestly find myself in a state of disbelief. What on earth do you all in Washington, D.C. even occupy yourselves with? If you really want to understand what a genuine lack of movie theaters looks like—not to mention a nonexistent selection of films—you should come visit us here in Seattle. Honestly, I think there might actually be more cinematic options on Maui than we have in our own city.
In case you haven't heard the news, those two existing theaters we have in Seattle aren't going to stay in the downtown area anymore. With the construction of the new World Trade Center over in the outskirts, the entire movie-going crowd is being pushed way out of the center. 👎So, my dear friends living in the big metropolis, it turns out that we folks in Seattle won't have a SINGLE CINEMA left in the heart of the city!!! 😠

Drama.👍 In any case, I tend to gravitate toward those genres, especially British and other European films since they seem to lack all that unnecessary sentimentality. After that, I’d say my preferences shift toward thrillers and Horror. Rounding out the list for me would be 👎Sci-Fi.

You can call me a nostalgic (with no other intentions, please, just strictly regarding this topic), but I was honestly expecting a bit more of that cinematic beauty—the gorgeous people, the ocean, the sunshine, cocktails, and those iconic "white linen suits" from the original TV series. Instead, we got none of that.😕
I have a ton of respect for Michael Mann as a director, but it feels like he personally wanted to go for some ultra-serious vibe, and man, did he overdo it! He focused so heavily on these heavy themes surrounding the two detectives and the whole mess of their crime-filled romance. We really should have been given a modern take within that same classic framework. After all, this is Miami, not Bangladesh...🙄
I will say, the night shots were beautiful, and that street "pistol" fight felt incredibly convincing.
As for the cast? Foxx was outstanding, but Farrell didn't really do much for me.
