Tickets are booked, car is reserved. Looks like we're heading to Aspen—the goods are officially on the way! 🙂

For third place: Denmark vs. USA, Denmark gets the bronze.

Only the dead are counted at the end of a battle. I honestly can't remember a tournament that had such a predictable finish. Based on how they're playing right now, the French are favorites—but then what? They shouldn't even be heading to Lillehammer at this rate. To be blunt, the American team didn't deserve you guys. I don't know what they did to offend God, but their stats look pathetic. Any other nation would be celebrating a result like this. Our basketball players would give anything just to reach a semifinal... You people really don't get it. You have no idea how much you're disrespecting these athletes and their coaches by dismissing their performance like this.

Look, sports are supposed to be fun. If someone delivers results—especially when everyone is hating on them—they're winning. Personally, Pippo Inzaghi is my favorite player, so I rest my case there. 🙏

I mean, what the hell are you all looking for? The result is right there, and honestly, it's even better than anyone expected. 😕

That’s it! Done deal. We’re back in the top four, and honestly, I hope this shuts up the critics for a while. Let’s not forget that out of the three massive tournaments over the next year, this one was easily the least critical—the result wasn't even a requirement. If we can still pull off a win despite all the issues and how limited our offense looked, then we’re actually moving in the right direction. Hats off to the players and the coaching staff, but credit to our opponents too. It was a gritty, unpredictable, and intense game. Fatigue and pressure clearly caught up with us, making the play look messy and error-prone on both sides. At the end of the day, the better team wins the fight for a medal. And this is a very good team that gave everything they had given the circumstances. Now, if I can just sort out my car and get some tickets, I’ll be watching the semifinals from the stands the day after tomorrow. 👋 👋 👋

The coach is a legend! 🙏

Where are all you armchair strategists now? 🤮

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but I think you're wrong on this one.

If we actually make it to the Final Four, I’m heading straight to Lillehammer. You better crank up those speakers, because whoever spends sixty minutes screaming "Lino! Lino!" is going to be the true king of the fans.

Right before the big game against Mexico, the president of the American handball federation, Željko Kavran, went on camera and started venting about how poorly the Norwegians organized the EP. He was specifically complaining about the food and how the rooms were set up. Naturally, the locals were pretty insulted by the critique, so they fired back with a massive article full of photos showing off the hotel and an extensive list of everything on the menu.

The hotel manager, Baron Torgersen, is genuinely baffled. He can't wrap his head around why Kavran would say such harsh things, especially since he believes their hospitality is top-tier.

"The players have excellent accommodations. We actually gave them more single rooms than we usually do just to make sure they're comfortable. The rooms meet very high Norwegian standards," Torgesen said.

Word reached Torgesen that the Americans were particularly unhappy with the catering, which forced them to head out to local restaurants a few times. That’s a massive hit to any organization's budget, especially considering how expensive Scandinavia can be. Feeling personally insulted, Torgesen took a look through the hotel's menu pages...

"Oh, you poor Americans, I guess they're just used to having such a high standard back home," one commenter noted.

"Look, for breakfast, we offer a standard international hotel spread, including warm pastries and peaches. We even provide freshly picked, current American newspapers as a supplement. For lunch, guests can choose from traditional Norwegian dishes—like roasted poultry in birch sauce—to international options like wood-fired lasagna, various perfectly cooked fish, several types of gourmet pasta, and tempting meat dishes, all served with various styles of potatoes and bread," Torgesen listed.

"We especially highlight our bolognese pasta, various cakes, and poppy seed noodles. And honestly, if someone isn't satisfied, they can just order whatever they want and we'll whip it up in no time," Torgesen added with a hint of sarcasm.

"I truly don't understand what they find lacking. I'll have to ask them in the morning to see where the issue lies. They hadn't given us any hints that they were unhappy, and frankly, I'm sorry it turned out this way," Torgesen concluded.

There was one particular comment on a local forum that caught my eye, where a visitor basically wrote: "Poor Americans, they're probably just used to that incredibly high standard in their own country."

1. The food is borderline disgusting. On top of being bad, it's outrageously expensive.

2. Our standard of living and dining is just out of your league. Americans weren't always just fishermen and hikers. Screw your herring.

redgardener17 said:Man, that guy from San Francisco is delusional. How can anyone even compare tennis—a sport for pampered, soft elites who are terrified of actual physical contact—to something like handball, basketball, or football? It’s just not in the same league.
(I left out rugby, hockey, and water polo on purpose.)
I swear, I’m done with sports where a single fart in the stands can trigger a replay. Give me a break.👎
What a joke of a choice. 👎

P.S. Why isn't that figure skater in the running?

Sure thing. I'll go ahead and fix my tone right now. I've always had a soft spot for advice from people who can't even spell their own username correctly. Let me do you a favor, though—it’s spelled "Great White." 👍

ESPN has this poll running for the world's greatest athlete. Federer was absolutely crushing it until word about the poll started spreading here in the States. 😁

If anyone was wondering who I'm voting for—you're kidding, right? My vote goes to the magician from San Francisco. Being a die-hard fan is one thing, but being an idiot is quite another.

An unprepared player is someone actually on the field making plays. It’s not like Smith, who they only call upon when they've run out of better options.

Dzomba has always been right up there with Balica for me, and honestly, his absence is being felt more than anyone else's. There isn't another player on that wing who can do what he does. Nobody. 🙂

Brandon Castillo4 said:Are you seriously accusing the best player in the game right now of lying? 🙂 🙂 😁

I’m not accusing him; I’m actually agreeing with him. Besides, most of what we hear about his condition comes through our local media, and let's be honest—they've hit rock bottom lately in terms of credibility. To me, Balić's actual health status is whatever we see out there on the court, and he doesn't look injured to me. At least, not nearly as much as some people (who clearly don't know the game) have been claiming.

Just a few days ago, everyone was saying this kind of injury could basically end his career if he pushed himself too hard.

And then he rolls up to Norway and starts teaching people how to play handball!🙏

Who's kidding who here?🤷

Unfortunately, they don't teach you what it means to "flip the script" in American schools.🙏

Chris Lopez59 said:With half the roster sidelined by injuries and just not being ready, even making the semifinals feels like a long shot. It all comes down to those matchups against the Canadians and the Danes; if we pull those two off, we're basically a lock for the semis. We could probably afford to drop games against the Czechs (we really need to rest Balić today and save him for later), the Mexicans, or the Norwegians. Crazy way to play, right?

Win every single game. That’s the only way to play it, and Lino knows it perfectly well.
