First, let me quote one guy from the forums: "How many songs by this absolute garbage pile do I have to sit through before my hatred feels justified? 😳" Well, I saw him later on some other thread. 😁 Anthrax absolutely tore it up—honestly, they were as crisp as a fresh Coca-Cola compared to the white noise coming from God Dethroned. Speaking of which, I’m seriously losing my mind over their mix; it's like they have no clue how to actually use a limiter, a compressor, or any of the basic tools required to do their damn jobs properly.
I have a special kind of disdain for these types who act like they just stepped out of a niche Philosophy seminar at Berkeley—guys who wander around aimlessly with all this intense existential fervor because they're playing festivals, yet can't even say the word "funk" without looking like they're having a neurological event. Yeah, I'm talking about Editors. Though, to be fair, their lead singer has three (3!) Rickenbacker guitars to channel that whole para-post-4AD sound, so... fine, maybe they're halfway forgiven.
Moby was alright, though admittedly a bit irritating despite having such a massive wall of sound. Honestly, I’m fed up with that overdubbed soulful vocals layered over the matrix; it’s driving me nuts. And frankly, I'm sick of the matrix itself.
As for Tricky, he was so spaced out it was actually painful to watch. Between the "Ace of Spades" vibes and the constant mumbling, his performance had all the consistency of a bad case of food poisoning. I just can't deal with it.
On a brighter note, huge props to the organizers this year for the shuttle buses, moving the wristband exchanges outside the main entrance area, and providing plenty of coupon stations for beer and snacks.
