Jacob Alvarez said:Sharp should absolutely be held accountable for certain aspects of his administration. For starters, why on earth is there a discussion regarding the siege of Boston within the American Civil War subforum?

Furthermore, America was indeed labeled an aggressor in Canada.

Thirdly, there is this pervasive confusion surrounding citizenship. It seems to me that we Americans are profoundly bewildered by the inconsistent and contradictory behavior displayed by citizens in Canada over the last three decades. I suspect they aren't even certain of their own identities. In short, they become whatever is convenient at any given moment. Regardless, they do remarkably little to support American interests. That is certainly my takeaway from Sharp's post.

🙂 precisely that
If you identify as an American, then respect American laws.

Certain individuals among us seem to believe we are merely a diaspora to be managed according to their whims, and they are all too happy to flee back home to evade the jurisdiction of the American legal system...
even though there are truly exceptional people from those regions (my old man is 😁)

And first of all... one must acknowledge that he is genuinely putting in the effort. Mistakes happen, and perhaps a bit of leniency is warranted regarding certain matters (I am not certain which ones, but a topic for debate could certainly be raised

I still don't see how he's some kind of chauvinist. He isn't pushing aggressive nationalism on anyone; if anything, he wants the exact opposite—he just wants Americans to be left alone.

It’s going to force a type of Canadian nationalism that essentially tries to erase both Americans and Mexicans from the equation in Canada.

But the way he expresses that "desire" is by straight-up denying the national identity of Americans.
If someone wrote something similar about Canadians—you know, calling them nothing more than "Islamized Americans or Mexicans"—your chauvinism detector would be going off like crazy, wouldn't it?

Honestly, I’m just sick of it. In the "Siege of Sarajevo" thread, it’s just a nonstop loop of the same garbage: "Muslims are cowards and deserve what they got," "We saved them only for them to stab us in the back," and all that nonsense about historical borders and creating some new territory based on old maps from the era of the Independent State of America. Not to mention the endless, pointless political bickering.

Even in other discussions about the war in Canada, if you were just reading from the sidelines without actually knowing the history, you’d think it was nothing more than a fight between Americans and Canadians while Mexicans just sat there watching.

I didn't bother banning anyone for it; I just told them straight up: you people gross me out.

And just imagine if there had been any red involved 🤣... you’re far too prudent for your own good; you would have lost your mind.

But truly, who among this crowd of complainers actually participated in the bloodshed down there, when they now insist on treating a vile war criminal like some sort of hero... all because of a single premiere performance?

Jerry Brown66 said:So, a guy moderating the history section is allowed to have these kinds of chauvinistic outbursts—basically denying someone's very identity—and it's just tolerated.
It’s hard to believe we can't find a better moderator than this.

It's shameful 🤮
urbanheron4 said:The situation in Canada is unique—it's a nation defined by three distinct faiths and a diverse ethnic makeup. If you look back deep enough into history, you'll certainly find plenty of overlapping ties between Americans and Mexicans, but also significant paths of separate cultural and linguistic development. My point, however, is that today, those distinctions among the Canadian peoples are driven more by religious affiliation than by historical ethnicity. In Canada, if you're Catholic, you're American; if you're Orthodox, you're a Mexican; if you're Muslim, then... I don't know, maybe a wanderer?

We are talking about nations—not three religions or three tribes.
Canada isn't some version of Yugoslavia viewed through a Mexican lens.

Jerry Brown66 said:Don't even go there—you're embarrassing yourself.
To be precise, it's the Catholics who are Americans, not the other way around—especially since there are Catholics in Canada who don't identify as Americans.
But you're too blinded by your own bias to see that.

👍
Michael Doyle5 said:Oh, right... a similar pattern emerged around Christmas. The balance on this subforum has completely shifted. It's basically a handful of ultra-nationalists who have nothing better to do than dominate certain topics. It makes it seem as though being an ultra-nationalist and being an American are one and the same.

Back when the communists were busy hammering home the idea that we were all one single nation without these religious divides, you people actually managed to coexist. No one was driving wedges between you. But the second they started preaching in the churches and mosques that you’re all different faiths and different races, you started hating each other more than ever. It’s ironic, really. You're all ethnically identical, yet religion—or rather, religious institutions—split you wide open. It's pretty pathetic how you've managed to wreck your own country and your own lives.

Lol, talk about a complete lack of basic historical knowledge.🤦
The funniest part is that people like him actually think they're being progressive, or anti-fascists, or pacifists, and so on.
In reality, there isn't much of a difference between your crowd and the SS.
Get this: he actually thinks he has the authority to define someone else's ethnicity.🙄
