Eric Adams - heavy-handed censorship

I’m just wondering why there is such heavy moderation on this thread and why posts are being deleted at this rate.

Why isn't it allowed to, say, comment on the announced fare hikes?

Is Eric Adams some kind of messiah?

Hajde, give it a shot—write a comment about these rising ticket prices, but leave out all the specifics and those little tips on how to sneak around without getting caught. Maybe you'll actually surprise me for once.

I am talking about cause and effect.

Higher fare prices lead to more fare evasion.

Is discussing fare evasion without facing a penalty forbidden now? Should I just leave that detail out? Good grief, we are talking about real-life situations here.

If the fare is $1.25, everyone will buy a ticket and revenue will go up. If it hits 8 or $3.25, nobody is buying anything and people will just jump the turnstile.

From what I gather, it’s against the rules to mention that a person isn't required to show their ID to a transit officer. I was simply sharing my own experiences; I wasn't encouraging anyone to do anything.

Am I not allowed to tell people what their rights are? A person has the right to withhold their ID from anyone except a police officer. The fact that the consequence is avoiding a fine isn't my problem.

If there’s one thing that makes me happy about Reddit shutting down, it’s that I won't have to deal with people constantly worshipping St. Thomas anymore. Or all that trolling from that little crybaby—how is it that his posts don't even get deleted when almost every single one of them is just him being a troll?

I don't know, I just saw the thread over on Reddit. Some date was mentioned. At first, I thought it was just a joke, but now I'm starting to wonder. 🤔

Beroš and Capak already covered the domain renewal fees; I assumed everyone was on the same page by now.

Objectively speaking, it would be a massive loss to let this shut down. This site serves as a massive library of collective knowledge and experience.

The issue isn't even the fanboys praising St. Thomas; it's that anyone who dares to criticize Tomic gets their posts nuked or gets banned entirely. Meanwhile, his inner circle can get away with insults, trolling, and straight-up propaganda without any consequences.
They might as well just update the community guidelines to state that this site is nothing more than an official mouthpiece for the Progressive Party and that any dissent is strictly prohibited.
That would pretty much wrap it all up.

I offer my full support to Eric Adams—my entire extended family cast their votes for him—but one must walk on eggshells if they want to avoid trouble.
He will undoubtedly secure more votes in the future because he deserves them... there are certainly ways to recover funds and return what was stolen.

I honestly don't understand why we keep circling back to this same argument.

What exactly is the expectation here? Should we just let every hooligan rant from both sides fly, leaving the thread a complete mess? Just leave nothing but links? Leave insults and ad hominem attacks everywhere? What's the goal?

It doesn't work quite how some people imagine, and moderation certainly isn't a buffet where you pick and choose what stays.
