In all honesty, perhaps this whole COVID situation isn't such a disaster after all; isn't it high time we actually implemented some fundamental changes, people?

And if you’re looking for the perfect excuse to skip out on plans without actually labeling yourself an antisocial hermit, here it is:

If you want to disconnect from the internet—or at least stop letting it consume your life—the most effective remedy is simply to stay busy.
Personally, I could easily manage without the internet or a smartphone. I check Meta once a day after I wake up, just enough to see if anyone significant has passed away or been born, and then I’m done. I don't bother with the news; my only real indulgence is the occasional bit of banter on this forum, though even that isn't strictly necessary.
It is quite striking how many people would be utterly lost without a connection. There is an entire demographic of people who live with their phones glued to their hands, constantly scrolling, liking, or photographing the pasta they are currently eating.

If you actually have a job, a family, and aren't just sitting around in total isolation—it’s tough... Especially in this "new normal" we're stuck in. ☕

The only way to dial it back is when life finally gives you a break. Otherwise, you need to actually *do* something tangible—go dig up the garden or whatever. If you don't have the space for a full yard, just get a finicky plant that requires constant attention. 😁

Either you stay single or you deal with a massive family that needs constant feeding, which basically turns you into a glorified houseplant. 😁
Some people just swing between extremes. They’re either glued to their screens twenty-four-seven or they’d happily throw their phones into the Hudson River and never look back. Honestly, what’s so hard about finding a little middle ground?
For anyone who feels like they've lost the plot and is spending way too much time scrolling, just set a timer for how many hours you'll be online each day and call it a day.
Personally, I only hop onto the forum once I've actually tackled my to-do list or finished whatever I felt like doing; then I'll settle in to check the stats or read something interesting.
