Up until recently, I had everything under control with my battery life; I’d typically keep the charge between 40% and 80% to stay on the safe side, and maybe once a month—or after about 30 charge cycles—I’d run a full calibration to keep things accurate.
I haven't actually been using my laptop much lately, but even when I’d leave it sitting for a while, the battery would never dip below 50% when I finally powered it back up.
Then, out of nowhere, the capacity just hit a wall, topping out at only 65% or 67%. After a couple of weeks of seeing that, I turned it on today only to find the battery completely drained, and even with the power adapter plugged in, it's acting like it won't take a charge at all.
The laptop is about four years old now, which I know isn't brand new, but it really caught me off guard how fast it went from "functioning fine" to "completely dead" in just a matter of days. It used to be reliable enough that if I charged it to 100%, I could easily sit through a full movie or get a few solid hours of work done without sweating it.
